But... why would someone ever, during noremal use of the machine, hold down the CTRL key and hit SCROLL LOCK twice?

I want something that crashes the machine whenever they type the letter 'S'.

I never hold down the CTRL key and hit the SCROLL LOCK key twice however, I do hit the SCROLL LOCK key twice quite often since I use a KVM switch. If you want something that will crash the machine whenever a letter is typed just find a really messed up W9X/ME system, you may not even need to touch the keyboard.

Edit: This is probably something leftover from the OS stress testing to see how well the OS handles recovery from a crash.
