I personally like the journal paper link you posted in the H&S forum better but these are good too. I remember (thanks to your links0 when this discovery was actually made in the 90's. I had forgotten about it and then it appeared to be a long way off. now they have hardware that is about to fly (the UAV.)

Renegade's link in the H&S thread is a peer reviewed paper on the process behind the article.

This comparison in your quoted text skips fission reactions. But since it is approaching the low end of fusion reactions I think I can assume that it is equivelant of a high end fission process. Think about it an ion drive powered by a fission reactor. Zoooom!

Since it really is just a super dense battery it will need a charger. How about big solar collector satellites equipped with giant terminals for a nucleon powered ship to plug into; or such satellites with laser/maser beams to relay power to a nucleon ship out in the outskirts of the solar system?

"Isomer Nucleonic - 800,000,000 Wh/Kg"

Holy Crap guys!  If the Battery is small enough, it could easily give you enough power too run cars with.  But I bet the technology is probably way too bulky for that.  But this could really be handy for long range space exploration ships/probes.  I hope NASA and other pursue this technology.  It has a lot of benefits.

No it can't be too bulky for that. [ after all it will be powering a global hawk type UAV in a few months ] But it is too expensive -unless they replace the hafnium with another nucleonic material. Hafnium is pretty rare.
