« on: March 20, 2004, 09:56:38 pm »
Hi everyone, ive been playing sfc for a while and my friend just gave me #3, Ive read all the faqs i can find and it hasnt helped. I start the game and all the graphics are screwed up, and sometimes it will restart my computer. I am running it on windows 2000 with directx 9. I am using a GeForce 4 Mx 440 with the latest drivers and i have installed the beta patch.

Honestly, I haven't the faintest what could be going wrong.  If you have the latest drivers (I'd imagine the MX 440 would actually be useful overall and not bad...actually able to run SFC 3 rather well), the beta patch (or the direct X patch), and everything else...the only thing I can figure that might have gone wrong is...

You didn't happen to use the DirectX 9 patch and THEN install the beta patch.  It has to be one or the other, but NEVER both if I recall correctly.

Otherwise, I have no idea what may be causing the problem...

Perhaps...ah yes, here's another problem I forgot to state...

Check your resolution...

Make sure it's not in 24 bit...

Try 32 bit, if that doesn't work, try your desktop resolution at 16 bit (note this is Desktop, not ingame that we are talking about), if I remember there were some problems with resolution matching in game to your normal computer settings.

Only a wild guess that's way out there
