um, excelcior saucers are too  small for the galaxy drive section. Upsizing the saucer  to make it fit looks silly,  imho.

I agree , why not try an Excel / Ambassador hybrid and see if that looks any better. My $.02

Like Starforce2 said.The Galaxy is too big for the Excel saucer.Now as for my suggestion,here are the Ambassador stats

Hull: Duranium hull planting over duranium/tritanium structural members
Number of Decks: 26 Total, 25 Habitable

As you can see it's much closer in size to the Excelsior and a quite feesible hybrid.And of course I have a pic to illustrate what I mean.mind you it's a side shot BUT the Excelsior saucer design is clearly visible.

Coming along Nicily.

My only nit-pick is the saucers edge, doesn't really seem to fit either era in its current shape. Not flat enough for TMP and to round (thick) on the edge for TNG.
