did everything, in order and all.
is this v500 a kind of special patch or is it the normal one?

It is a normal one, but is Beta according to Activision...

there is a patch for specific regions.. aka.. a US patch, a German patch and a UK patch which also doubles for rest of the world...

if you are still having issues after doing the above.. recheck you Radeon drivers.. the latest drivers from ATI website should allow SFC 3 to work... if not, then lower desktop color resolution to 16 bit.

also make sure of your short cut properties as stated above.. you need to make sure Disable Visual Themes is checked... otherwise game will CTD at mission load..

Ok, run a DXDIAG

to do that go to your start button, click on run, type in DXDIAG
run all the tests
save a log file

post the log here

also check your shortcut properties again..

rightclick on your shortcut for SFC 3

click  properties

click compatibility tab

put a check in "Disable visual themes" leaving all other boxes blank

click OK

try game

if you are still having errors, please post a Direct X log report...

there must be something you are missing in the setup procedures listed above...

Direct X Log will look at your windows region settings.. if your region setting is different than OS Language, it causes Vid Card discrepencies and game crash.

Also, you may want to go into services.msc and disable UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) and also go into MSCONFIG and turn off any mouse software you have running in the background (in startup tab).. especially Logitech mouse software...
