« on: March 15, 2004, 12:39:24 pm »
I'm having problems getting my new sattilite internet hook up to connect with the online part of my SFC3 game. it worked fine with my phone hook up but now it log's on fine until it goes to read the Name & password & e-mail adress, then the counter counts down and it can't detect my IP adress? if anyone out there has any Ideas on how to fix this problem Please let me know. Thanks for the help..MDFJimmiZ.... Hail MDF

I had a similiar problem in the past. With DirecTV internet, you will need to get a Dynamic IP address, only availabe for the buisness users. It sucks big time also, as they charged me an additional $40.00 / month to have It. Needless to say that was awhile back, and I'm back on Dial up, But that's the reason. Check If you can get a Dynamic Ip through there service.

There is a built in time lag with this type setup, I don't think you will be able to use it for online gaming. By the time the signal gets into orbit and back down to you, it has traveled 50,000 miles for a time lag of almost 1/3 of a second. Other built in factors also add to this delay.

It's best to either use DSL, cable, or a good dialup internet connection for online gaming.

Thanks for the help Guy's. I'm starting to figure out that this sattilite Internet hook up was a really bad idea from the start. if I'd consulted with experts first  I would have saved a lot of money and time trying to use a system that I had no idea was not compatable with the online games that we all play. once again Thank you very much for the help & your time ...and for anyone wanting to get a sattilite hook up play online games all I can say is DON"T GET ONE.......
