PATCH: Some Old Bugs Fixed, Some New Bugs Added

VERY preliminary results from an hour of testing. Flew Borg Diamond against Highlander's Defiant. Yes it was a battle between Scots. But isn't that natural, right?

   First, beware the "Chat Bug" -- when you return from Shipyard, your enter key will not transmit your typed chat messages. You'll need to go to another screen like Officer screen to clear it.

Second, AMMs have been drastically downgraded, thank god.

Third, fleet restrictions are in effect and seem to work.

   Borg:
Glass warp core fix confirmed
Officer death before armor gone fix confirmed, BUT, officers seem to die IMMEDIATELY after armor is gone.
Repairs to internals *seem* faster
Hull & engine *seem* to regen faster. Also Armor *seems* to regen now, but can't be sure.


   Federation:
Officers *seem* to die slightly faster
Repairs *seem* to take longer

These are impressions, not true tests, so your results may vary.


That's all we had time for.

Speaking of new bugs, I've got one. I upgraded to ver. 1.01, went to log on to D3, and hung at the "Starting DirectPlay Test Host" section. It eventually timed out, telling me I may have NAT installed. Yeah, I've got NAT on my router, but I was playing fine on D3 servers under ver. 1.00.

If anyone else has encountered this problem and knows if it's related to the patch or something else, please let me know. Thanks...

I'd like to add some premliminary observations of my own.  As SghnDubh said above, these are not scientifically proven, they are all my own impressions.

After about 5 extended missions in a K'Tinga :

I can repair my cloak!

I can't "follow" cloaked targets.

Ion cannon -- not sure.  Does a hell of a lot of damage when it hits though.

Disruptors seem to reload much slower.  Maybe this is just me.

Turn rate for given throttle settings is definitely different.  Still trying to get used to it.

That's all I've noticed for now... more later.

I had to attempt it like 5 times.  On the final (successful) attempt, I went online and messed around for a while (Battleclinic) while it was doing its thing.  Took about 5 minutes.   When I came back, there was a full screen full of dialogue I'd never before seen, ending in "You may now log on."

After that I haven't had any problems getting to the server menu screen, although as of right now I can't seem to get back on TBN Galaxy, it just sits there on "Logging On."

I know it is premlinary, so is mine. played for three hours....

Some stuff I seen playing Borg.

I do not see officers die immediately after armor gone. Officers are not as tuff as a whole though now, expect to get new recruits; actually I like that, why is everyone a legenary officer? Seems that is why they die quicker?

Repairs internal and hull and engine seem faster, use to take forever for Borg hull to regen but not scientific.

I let my armor get blown off and take alot of damage, then I damaged severly my test ship and let me sit in peace to regen hull and fix all internals for about 15 minutes. I then went back to test ship and let it take a shot at me (or just run over one of your own mines). I took internal damage immediately, thus I conclude, sadly (Borg was my favorite) ARMOR does NOT regen. But HULL does a bit faster.

Rom AI will fire torpedo now, thank heavens. AI is working 'much' smarter now and will fire its load better angular velocity calculation to hit.

Probes still seem too much to detect ROM cloaked, but not as bad as was before. Maybe I am a good guess to fire a probe...needs more looking at.

OK time to test the server....I hope this makes it more exciting, test to see if there is more missions and stuff instead of "SCAN planet". Test againts human players is the way..

Damage before the patch was 9, but after the patch it's 14
