In the fasa version of SFB each shield was powered separately So if a shield held five points of power it took 30 total power points to raise all shields.

FASA version of SFB!?!

LOL that's the same as in SFB anyway isn't it - the shields are all separate, you can power down individual ones.

Okay chaps, here we go with round two... Two new ships sharing a common variant...

Firstly we have the USS Chehalis NCC-2318.

This is intended to be some kind of ELINT platform, hence the pod underneath.  As can be clearly seen, this is the secondary hull from an Oberth Science Vessel and I haven't altered the scaling at all, the pod measure out at 150m give or take.  I figured Starfleet would make use of a pod like this for sensor and comms jamming, long range eavesdropping and general snooping around.  The pod has been completely retexted from P-81's original. I had wanted to use LC Amarals excellent mesh but the model before the pod was knocking on 10,000 poly's so thought I'd make life a little easier on everyone's systems. And I AM aware that there are no registries on the nacelles... Forgot to add them when I rendered it.. They are in the completed model though rest assured.....

Secondly we have the USS Francis X. Hummel NCC-2319

I'll be honest here, I was only intending on releasing the Chehalis but then I remembered Pataflafla's USS Keyhole (Northampton Class - but stealthier) and though why not give this one out as well.. Oh and I watched "The Rock" this week too....   This is exactly the same as the Chehalis but equiped to be more stealthy with a low visibility colour scheme. There are no lit areas of hull on this. The only items illuminated are lights, windows etc... Unfortunately I haven't yet mastered "self illumination" in max so here are a couple of in-game shot to give you an idea what I mean.

The model this time tips the 10,000 poly mark due to the pod being added.  It weighs in at 10,233 polys which is still not as bad as it could have been. As before, I have put together three versions (2048, 1024 and 1024 Lite) of each model with varying colour depth and bitmap size and I have also include an EXP file for those with Shipedit.  I think I'm getting the hang of this modelling malarky, one day I hope to be as good as some of you guys... All always, any comment good or bad is appreciated...

Nice! D/L now.

Great idea for using the Oberth secondary hull too!

Still hoping for FASA's USS Fife NCC 2572 Saucer/nacelle textures so I don't maul your good work.

The USS Fife was a plain Chandley with no unusual markings. It was featured in the FASA Scenario 'A Doomsday Like Any Other' set in the OUTBACK a region on the Gorn-Fed-Rom border and involved the discovery of a Planet-killer...

IF these to variants are any indication, your X-era Chandley is going to absolutely rock!!!

Yeah I will be releasing the Fife... The only slight issue is that of registry number, hers (or any of the others) isn't mention anywhere in the FASA manual or other wise. As a result of wishing to be consistent, it will have a low 23xx number. i think I listed it in the first readme for the Standridge but I dont recall what number I gave it now...

Not true: Page 62 of the  FASA Scenario book: ' A Doomsday Like Any Other'  1986 NCC 2572

I believe if you check the FASA Federation ship recognition Manual she should be listed there as well. I never owned that book so I can't be 100% sure. I DO remember reading my friends copies when I was a teenager though and I practically memorized the Chandley entry...

However, other Chandley Class ships are listed here:

http://www.sub-odeon.com/stsstcsmua/

I believe the Chandley is THE most made non-canon FASA Trek ship made now!

Thank you for sharing these with us. BTW: I LOVE the attention to detail on your Chandleys, the armament is well done too!

P. S.

PLEASE fix the link to the USS Blackhawk. I lost this ship in a recent purge to get rid of a virus on my system and hadn't gotten this on one of my FASA to SFC disks yet.  Thanks in advance.

Oh pump... Really, this is just typical of FASA and I had it all worked out nicely too... Hmmm, I suppose I shall have to assign an alternate number though it'll be way way out of sequence.  Mind you FASA also said that about two hundred were built so I guess it does fit in their eyes.  I must admit to not having read that particular FASA publication though I had the Federation Ship Recognition Manual for years.  Sadly I appear to have lost it recently and I cant find it anywhere... I got the other two but no longer the Fed one...

Well then, NCC-2572 it will probably be then...

I wonder if anyone who visits here actually comes from Fife????

Common sense in FASA Trek? That is funny, LOL. This is SFC though, I'm just glad we can play with your Chandley class, LOL.

I agree with you on the registry sequence  though. I really don't care that much about NCC 2572 ( in FASA Trek the 2500 registries were Northampton class registries). Maybe  use NCC 2372 for the Fife?

IF FASA Trek were made today, perhaps it would be MORE consistent with itself, LOL.

Good point, NCC-2572 doesn't even fit with their own sequence... Ok, NCC-2372 will do.. Oh, and I have updated the link to the Blackhawk as requested plus also the Kelley Hospital Ship too... Updated links are on the sticky FASA thread at the top...

why bother fixing the blackhawk link? lol...just make a blackhawk of the new version? That'd be sweet to have the high res textures with them lightning birds on it. Logos are so underused in tmp  trek.  They did it back in starfleet museum era it's too bad the tradition died there for the most part.

I'm going to... In fact that'll probably be the next one released.  The reason it was fixed was that KF asked plus I need to sort the Kelley Hospital ship link out as well so I thought "Why not"....

At least it updates the FASA/SFC thread.....

And as for ship logos, I love all that stuff.... Starfleet Museum is one of my fave sites... It's just a pity that Brannon & Braga never bothered to look.....

I don't   I'd want to see B&B's logo ideas anyways   they'd find some way to screw them up.

Okay, two more additional liveries are now available.  No model changes from the Standridge but at least you have a little bit of choice regarding what flavour you'd like your Chandley in.....

USS Blackheart NCC-2327

USS Blackhawk NCC-2323 (My personal favourite!!!!)

Most Chandley buffs will know of the Blackheart which, according to FASA, was one of the most decorated frigates in the fleet. As a result I have included some NCC-2327-A textures to reflect the fact that Starfleet would probably replace it upon it's loss. I should point out that I am not a huge fan of registry suffixes (and as far as canon goes, only the Enterprise carried one) but I thought it would be a nice idea. The Blackheart I had done previously and was released a while ago as a retex of Pataflafla's Chandley and so I figured it should be redone (as pointed out by Starforce) though the previous version is still available (see FASA/SFC thread)

As before there are three versions available (2048, 1024 and 1024 Lite) each with an EXP file for Shipedit though I'm not sure the path to the model is still correct if you import it straight in. Poly count is as the Standridge but the size of the Blackheart zipped/unzipped folders has increased due to the additional textures... Okay enough of my waffle....

I'm more likely to do Royal Mail to be honest.... LOL

As for mapping, well they're both the same.... it's just the actual textures that differ...
