common settings

When i alter these files the game wont reconise the changes  to these files like in, hmmm, shilds? any one got an idea y it wont work?

okay. if i altered "f-shild I" and increased one of its values. Lets say mass.The game would not imput this value insted it would stick wit the old mass vlue. Ive tryed to increse shild strengeth from 2 to 5. The game wont display 5. It will only display 2

In the common settings folder I see nothing in there that even relates to shilds or shields. Now if you are talking about the shiplist.txt file it depends which directory you saved the information, there are two files in the game and both must match campaigns to see them. Save a clean copy for internet play if you alter things.
