AZEL .... and others too
« on: March 07, 2004, 04:04:37 pm »
I thought it might be more appropriate to post this on a seperate thread....  ( deflector dish for the Advanced Light Cruiser  aka X-CLC ).  The basic idea is there .  It is just a tad thinner ...   wider ...  but also lacks a little something in style to prevent it from looking too much like a "box" stuck up there.  Also the torp tubes are on either side of the deflector as well.  Any in put  ( particularly some of those sketches you are famous for Azel ...  would be appreciated.

hmmmmm   ok  ....   though I might dissagree ..   could you be a bit more specfic ...  just curious??  If it is better to leave it off  I could understand if the reasoning is sound enough.

hey bud...  do you have any ideas  on how to reshape some of the lines I particularly the views as already mentioned...   to bring the design up to TNG ..  late TNG specs ??  I can do the Photo shop thing perhaps and see what happens ??

Just a thought !

Easy just use a galaxy-class secondary hull and just reshape it...take out all the windows and scale it down
to act like a pod

Oldbuzzard Sir, I have 2 ideas for your advanced design.First let me say I like your idea of placing the deflector in the weapon pod.
Now first off is my idea for the ship design.....
 X-CLC

 X-HDW

Just use your modified pod and swap out the narcells

Or secondly I don't know if you viewed another thread I had but here was another solution for where to place deflectors on CL's and DD's.......

Anyway those were my suggestions.I thought they were interesting and I enjoy sharing them with the community.Perhaps it will give you or someone else ideas.

if you would use that weapon pod on an Miranda variant than there is no need to have a deflector in the weaponspod because the miranda class ships and the most of their variants have two deflectors at the top of the saucer part
the pic should show what i mean:

i like more the idea for deflectors like they are at the Maxwell class strike cruiser, 2 smal forward deflector at the bottom of the saucer
the pic is not the best but will show a bit what i mean:

and here are some pics of deflector and photon pod variant that i have added to some of my excelsior selfdesigns

So models please you were looking for something like this?

If so you need to do some ground work to see if he is willing to let his work go into SFC. If he approves I will finish the Texture Problems on it and release it otherwise it will get fixed and go in my personal libary, no ands, buts or ifs. So this one I leave in your hands to get his premission and PM his E-mail to me.

I did this in a parts formate, ie saved all the parts into seperate files for quicker kitbashing. I have the parts available to do the other one as well, but it will have to wait for the weekend before I can make it.

Outstanding indeed !!!!!!! Holy cow both ships . I tried to email the modeller via the link on the page where I found the ship, but it wasn't a valid email,so I emailed the owner of the website and he sent me another email address so the request is on the way.Hopefully we shall here something in the next few days.

But the interconnecting Dorsal should be swept forward not back

Yeap.

I noticed that last night as well, but was to tired to do anything about it. I think I will do another version with the the corrections but keep this one as well. Since the parts are modular it should not be to hard to fix. Then I have all the texture adjustments to do which will be the longer part.

captain ron, where'd u get that miranda variant?

Now the signle nacelle  destroyer looks neat too. As do all the excelciors,  just need to get them made from some decent excelciors though, those multi-sided saucers look horrid. Look like armada models from the old battlestation days ugh..lol. But I'm sure seraph can do them. He's the excelcior queen right now

Which Variant? (have quite a few now)

If you are talking about the one in the above pic I made it by removing things I did not need off of a P81 Miranda. Select Delete is not to hard to fingure out, select hide or select delete and you pretty much get what you want out of the deal. I finished up the textures (except Registries, will do thouoghs tonight) and just have to add HPs and DPs to the lower section, which will take longer as i have to figure those out as I go. After those three items are done, and thanks to models please for hunting down the premissions, I will release the ships both of them (the correct one and the variant) in the same zip.

No WIPs currently, after finishing the adjustments I got lazy, why the registries will be done later as well. Only good news of this is the thinking of what to name them and hull numbers are already done by the orginal modeller (saves me time thinking, which is always bad)

It was my pleasure to assist Captain Ron sir. I'm just jazzed this all came together and if I read your last post correctly there will be (3) Count 'em 3 ships being released. The 2 Miranda's and the single narcell destroyer version.WOW.Oh and if you need a name and number for the second Miranda varient. May I suggest  USS Paul Winfield    NCC 1942 Or NCC 2004   But I guess that depends on which of those 2 registries are available.
