INCOMING HAIL
« on: February 26, 2004, 10:15:29 pm »
Let me start by introducing myself:
I am Commander AFIronWolf of the Armagedon Fleet(AF)
I have recently been assigned to our Research and Development Division
My current project is to design NEW weaponry(NOT textures and sounds )
I am in need of assistance, for I lack the tools to create and edit ships/weapons models

For those of you who respond to this distress call:
I thank you in advance

We would gladly add your technological destinctiveness to our own(Not without giving due credit ofcours)

I'm reluctant to respond to this...to somebody whose grasp on reality is somewhat skewed.   Nonetheless, you cannot create new weapons for SFC3 as what there is - is all hardcoded into the game.  You can change the sounds and textures and subsequently the names and damage points they inflict but nothing more.

All that can be changed is the sounds and textures for most of the SFC series, three can be more but not all that much more. Now just because you are limited to a point doesn't mean you can not change things and improve them.

Ships and their textures are probably the most heavily done ones (and can be done for about 75 dollars US) but the other items are no less important and something very few do. So it is something you still might want to consider. Mods are always needed and not always the the way most of us think, ask Chris Jones how many could help him out and you will see.

Now that I have been cleared up on the ability to create new weapons

I am still in need as far as tools required to create my own Start Trek: Starfleet Command 3 models

Does anyone know where I can find an Assimilated Andromeda Ascendant?

I need to find as many ships as possible and Extreme originals are a definite plus

Ships in the SFC series can be changed quite easily compared to everything else in the game. The rest of the stuff is pretty hard to do and can cause problems between sysytems and patches. Most file editing is very time consuming and very few can do it properly, then the problem of getting a host for your mod.

Ships being the easiest to do are also what the majority of modders do. Though probably the most expensive of the modders choices it is the one that also draws the most attention. For about 75 dollars US (50 bucks on-line download/register for PaintShop Pro and 25 bucks on-line download/register for Milkshape) you can get the basic tools to model with, which includes Kitbashing, applying textures and creating textures. It takes time to do and learn but it is easily the most visiable of the modders, the hardest type is the game file changer (edits *.gf and other files) and has the least visibility.
