Adding Pirates to Artifex.

I posted here awhile ago about a problem detecting Rakellian race hexes, and nobody replied, so I'll assume no one else has ever tried to detect Rakellian race hexes in mission scripts.  So, I thought perhaps I could swap the Rakellians and the Pirates and see if the mission scripts would properly detect a Pirate hex.  My question is, how do I add the Pirates to Artifex?  Can I just change "Rakellian" in the definitions.txt to Pirate?  Has anyone ever tried to detect kPirateRaceHex in the eLocationWhoHex flags object?
