Nvidia plans to push its sales of its graphics cards by bundling the online game, Doom 3, to be launched by id Software in April, according to sources.
id Software said earlier this week that it recommended the Nvidia GeForce FX series of graphics cards for the soon-to-be released Doom 3.
To emphasise the endorsement, a special sticker has been designed for the GeForce FX packaging indicating that the product is 'Recommended by id Software for Doom 3'.
Nvidia is also likely to bundle the game with its new-generation NV40 graphics cards, due to be launched in the second quarter of this year, according to the sources.
The Nvidia/id software venture is expected to put pressure on Nvidia's rival, ATI Technologies, which has reached an agreement with design house Valve to bundle the online game, Half Life 2, with its cards.
Due to the delayed launch of Half Life 2, ATI is now planning to initially bundle another Valve game, Counter-Strike (CS), with its cards. The ATI/CS combo is slated for launch in early April, sources said.
