SFC Gold
« on: February 24, 2003, 12:30:46 pm »
I used to have SFC Gold but managed to misplace it so I ordered a new copy. I intend to patch it right off the bat with the 1.021 to 1.03 patch at Starfleet Universe. I remember reading somewhere that someone had fixed SFC Gold so you could play all ten Hydran special missions instead of just the first 7. Does anyone know the specific address this fix is at? Any help would be appriciated.

I can't wait to get my hands on it again. For me, the most fun I've ever had with an SFC game, or any computer game, was palying the Fed special missions. It felt like being Kirk in the series, a captian in a cruiser saveing the Federation. I always kind of cheated, a CAD+ with heavy drones could kill anything  in SFC 1.

Yes, the lack of AMD made drone chuckers really nasty back then, but then again, scatterpacks were always slow missles only;  For drone praticioners a hard trade off.

Ah, the days of SFC1;  Fast loading hellbores, no AMD, admin shuttle 'fightercraft', and of course, magic photons.  The ragging and complaining back then could fill entire forums in mere minutes.

All highly amusing to the lurks and ghosts, such as myself.

As to your Hydran missions, I don't know;  EAW and OP came out before I had become sufficently proficient in federation light ships, and so I moved on.  I was able to find out how to change your officer names though, but I digress.

Scroll down tot he bottom.

AND USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I have never tried it personally.

p.s. I wonder, now with all SFC1 mission source codes released, would someone gone through and fix these quirks...

Thanks, that was exactely what I was after.

Next stupid question I wish I'd thought of before I ordered it,
Will SFC Gold run with Windows XP?

I brought SFC1 for £4.99 and have been playing it (due to the forever late patch) and it runs with no problems.  I don't have to use the compatibility thingy either.  I cheat occasionally (I know, bad spelling but I can't be bothered with a spell checker) and use the ship edit program now and then if I can't complete a mission, although the power adjustments don't always work.

I eneded up buying a used but "like new" copy thru Amazon.
Still haven't got it yet though.
Cheap prices but lengthy delivery.

Mine auto-runs...  but then, I swear my computers are possessed by a good spirit of tech that saves them from all things evil and chips the clock speed by 5%
