Hey Canadians!
« on: February 27, 2004, 11:33:59 am »
They have your products here in Mexico! Wow! Premier peat moss, great stuff! Glad I could buy your quality products here and help support somebody's job!

Also got me some Kleen-Strip varnish and stain remover, made in the beloved US of flucking A!

We rock!

BTW, Home Depot is ok here, but now I know why the Mexicans go to El Paso and shop on the weekends so much, Sears and other stores are so much higher than in the U.S. They also get only a one year warranty on tools, where I get lifetime warranty at Sears in the U.S. I can understand that though as when I was in college and working full-time at Advance Auto Parts, the most returns and exchanges we had were from the illegals, they just do not know what the heck they are doing and is why they prefer old cars and trucks with carbs and stuff. Really bad for Austin as it is estimated 20% of the labor force in Austin alone is illegal aliens. Yes, we have ozone days in Austin, Texas now, 20 years ago we never had that problem, and I know it is not Americans as most drive newer and cleaner emission cars and trucks.

Lol, thats funny, drb and I used to joke that about all we have to export here on the east cost is bog. We figured we could jazz it up and sell it as "Sun-Dried Bog", think it will fly?

The unfortunate reality is that all to often Canadians take the shortcut to entrepreneurship and export raw material resources instead of the much needed value-added product or service exports our economy needs to survive in modern times. (Value added - like "Sun-Dried Bog" in pretty glass bottles... ). Seriously though, it has been a long term economic crutch for us to rely on the export of our abundant resources and the irony of it is that we often buy the very same material back in value added products produced abroad!

Thanks for supporting Canadian products though JMM, might as well make the most of this Nafta thing. (I have noticed significant quantities of Mexican product not unlike peat moss here in Canada at times too... )

Well, Nafta quite isn't working right IMO. For example, why can't Stephen import ceramic tile for his brother who does that kind of work without paying dues at the border? Why do I have to pay money to the Mexicans for goods bought in El Paso? I guess duty free NAFTA was designed for RICH people who own companies? God forbid one of us po folk gets a brainy idea and have an opportunity to not only make money but provide employment on both sides of the border?

IMO, since I have found Truper (Mexican tool manufacturer) to be quality that matches Craftsman, why can't we have Mexican, American, and Canadian tools in all 3 countries and let people make their own choice? Oh yeah, I remember, I'm a crazy DS vet, WTF do I know?

Don't worry Bonk and other Canadians, I am going to keep buying your products. Me likes   I guess the Mexicans do too as it sells far better than their crappy plant stuff.

Can you believe they do not have a nursery here in C.C.? Wish I was rich, I'd make one and watch all the good looking hotties come into my store. My rosebushes are in hog heaven, I can hear them saying :Thank God a gringo rescued us from that open air hellhole at Home Depot!"

Besides being different, you should see the look on women's faces when they see a guy doing landscape in front of the house!   They are used to the "Me Capt. Caveman, me work, you stay at home. When I get home I be lazy and you cook, clean, and bring me my beer" mentality.
