I am just happy that Jackson won Best Director.  LOtR shows what can happen if you decide to really put quality first in making a good movie.  Imagine all of the horrible ways that LOtR would have turned out without someone as dedicated to the details and realism as Peter Jackson.  He deserves it.

I would have liked to have seen Johnny Depp win for playing Jack Sparrow; the character and his performance were just fantastic.  I never saw Penn's performance so I can't say that Depp was robbed, but still, I would have liked to have seen him win.

Eleven out of eleven. It tied Ben Hur and Titanic for most won. I never thought it would do that well. I guess 2.5 billion in receipts (for all three) really got their attention.

Yeah, but I am still pissed that Sir Ian did not garner Best Supporting the first year.

Great show, and they rewarded LOTR and Jackson for all the work, perfectionism and results.

A sweep.  Prety amazing.  I liked the chick who won in foreign language film, she started out saying something like "We'd like to thank Peter Jackson for not making LotR a foreign language film...."

Mitch and Mickey were robbed as well.

I liked the fact that none of the nominated songs were "Pop" songs.  None had recieved airplay.  No Top 40 anywhere.  I don't think that an end credit song should be Oscar worthy.  For best song it should be a song that had an integral part in the movie.

Does anyone know what instrument that was Sting played during his performance?

Was anyone else scared to death by Annie Lennox's performance?

Its called a Hurdy-Gurdy and about the only place you will see it played these days might be a Renaissance fair.

Huh, I've heard the 60's song about the Hurdy-Gurdy man.  But never really knew what it was.

As I told my wife.  I really hate Sting.  Here's this man who is an extremely talented singer/songwriter who's learned out to play most of the "popular" musical instruments and he takes the time to learn how to play an outdated instrument as well.

We won't go into 9 hours worth of tantric sex at a time either.

Gee, I wonder why the establishment picked Sean Penn this year?

Turns out not enough people gave credit to Clint Eastwood for that movie.  I wonder why?
