Sweet skinman! I think this is gonna be awesome. I'm thinking about making a TMP mod, maybe you'll let me use it when it's finished.

Speaking about finished, do you have a download link for the 2nd edition Tholian? And, you don't mind if I use them in the Neutral Zone mod do you?

Y'know, in all of your models from day 1 (except your Legion [Sp?] ones has been done in a strange way.  In perspective angles you give us, it looks squished or bent outta shape a bit.  Not to the point that it looks bad though, that's hardly the case with almost every model of yours.  This is no exception.  Despite the slightly squished view of pics one and three of your update, it looks very beautiful, especially the warp engines (warp grilles lit up on the insides or not, and I think we might need more non-lit versions)  Of course the perspective bent-outta-shape signatures you give the model could be just my mind.  And if so than oh well.  Never stops me from thinking that and thinking much more of how beautiful your ships are (especially this one, already my favorite).  Good job Skin Man!

Oh, BTW... The tail thrusters on the warp engines are on the opposite sides.  Just thought you should know.

I don't see any squishing, although the lighting and the way the pylons go into the hull, the first upper-side view has the pod looking like it's off center. I think yur just seeing an illusion.

Well Skin, I have noticed some things about this one:

What are those large tan rectangles on the top of the saucer? Are they hatches or transporter pads, and if they are the latter why are they only on the top and not on the bottom as well, seeing as how people usually transport DOWN to a planet rather than up to it? If they are supposed to be hatches of some sort, don't you think they look like band-aids?

Also, you realize that the impulse deflection crystal is oval and not a true circle, but if you meant to do that then it makes it look like its having a hard time trying to decide whether to be an oval or a circle.

Also, the first stage magnatomic flux constrictor housing on your necalles is meshed rather blockily, the front part should have a gradient to it. But if you meant to do that then I guess its your call.

Lastly, the back of the bridge looks way too long (unless you meant to do that) and the VIP lounge is not supposed to be flat like that at the back, it's supposed to be a curve (unless you meant to do that).

Other than that, it's a start....

Ok. What is up with this? When someone does something bad/negative to me, I ask myself, "Why is this person doing this? What are they accomplishing?"  There has to be something in it for them, or why would they go through the bother?
Atra. Would you please tell us why you are doing this? What's in it for you? Do you have an axe to grind? Has Skin ever done anything to you? The only thing that you are accomplishing right now is to alienate yourself and give support to Skin. If you are trying to degrade his work or belittle him, it's backfiring. Try and look at this from a 3rd person perspective and imagine what this makes people think of you. I'd hate to see what the response would be to a model of yours if you were to post one right now. This is creating a poor atmosphere. I'm sure you aren't trying to do this. Sorry to lecture, just a bit of friendly advice.

To be fair, you people are jumping on Atra a bit too quickly here, I mean I know in the other thread about the Hydran reskin, his tone was originally a bit harsh, but in his last post, he seemed perfectely reasonable to me, he simply pointed out some details on Skin's ship that are innacurate compared to the Connie/Miranda/etc. ships - asking if it was Skin's intention to depart from the canon. As for the tan rectangles, I also want to know - what the Kirk's toupé are they? My first thought was hatches, though I think Atra was a bit harsh with the band-aid thing. Seriously guys if it had been someone like me posting that post Atra made, you guys wouldn't have had a rant about it, but coz of the arguement Skin and Atra had in the other thread, people seem instantly prepared to jump to the support of Skinman, which is sad really because his post was very reasonable (possibly apart from the band-aid thing) You guys really shouldn't get so defensive about criticism, if I ever made a model I wouldn't want a dozen people saying, - 'it's great it's wonderful, you're the Messiah... etc' I would want someone to say, 'well you forgot to make that bit rounded', or 'I don't think this looks as good as it could' though if I ever made something everyone would say it was complete sh!t but that's because I lack the talent. What really got me though is that what Rod O'neal just posted - 'I'd hate to see what the response would be to a model of yours if you were to post one right now' - I can't be bothered to put the quote thingy around it. Were Atra to return to modeling now and post sommething, people should post honestly on the merits of the model, NOT because they like Skin and Atra criticised his work. Don't think I'm playing Devil's Advocate here, I'm just being impartial.

Oh and Skin, the model does look nice, but I would personally have made the impulse engine structure a little lower to the hull, but it's your model and I look forward to seeing it finished. *Ducks to avoid flaming for criticising someone's model* j/k on that last thing BTW.

Perhaps the tan areas are still to be illuminated sheild/deflector emitters like on the TOS connie.

I really like the hull aztec.

Suggestion: where the warp pylons meet the primary hull I think there should be a textured "reinforced area" on the saucer texture as right now it looks a little "kitbashy".

Ok coolness people, coolness.....

*Looks at Rod O'Neal's info*

Lieutenant Commander.... Hm.  Insulting a Captain, eh?  That'll get you nowhere on advancing to Starship command, Lt. Cmdr. O'neal.  Any more and I'll order security to take you to the brig.

Aah, enough of the roleplaying.  Nice job so far Skin Man.  BTW, are you going to release blank saucer textures for texturers to create their own name and registry numbers for the ship?

I was trying to make my statement as constructive as possible. I do have to say it was because of the fireworks in the other mentioned post that I said anything at all. I really didn't immediately see the problem with the "mesquito bite" post and thought that SkinMan was overreacting to Atras critique. After they exchanged comments though, it seemed to me that SkinMan was correct at taking offense. When I saw this all I could think is that it was happenning again. Atra, If you meant no insult and were offering your learned oppinon, tell me and I will issue a swift appology. This comment just seemed , to me, to be more inflamatory than the last.
As far as respecting my "superiors" goes, I do respect Atrahasis' work. A lot! He's a fantastic modeller and my comment was in no way directed at his modelling contributions to SFC.
