I am not a huge fan of Rachmaninoff (I strongly prefer his contemporary and good friend Scriabin) but I can recommend some solid pianists (for Russian music)  if you should come across a recording by one:

- Vladimir Ashkenazy
- Ruth Laredo
- Vladimir Horowitz
- Glenn Gould

P.S. It can be had at Napster for 99 cents for each of the three movements.

anyway, I need to get back into the Classical Phase again, It has alot more passion then Modern , contemporary music IMHO.

Ah yes both good pieces for driving fast.

Valkyries always makes me think of Blues Brothers with the two Nazis in the VW falling off the bridge.

So would I! The copyrights for that stuff are actually pretty expensive. You'd be surprised what a symphonic score goes for.

Well if you want the notes:

Classical Midi Archive
http://www.classicalarchives.com/

If you want sheet music

Solero Music Viewer

http://www.sunhawk.com/

I too am a fan of Rachmaninoff, of course being a "chroal" guy I am partial to His "Vespers" , but you better have a few "Studs" for the bass section.

I thought one of the guys from school performed #3 for a Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Professional Music Fraternity I an in) recital.  But it may have been #2.  I will look when I get home.

wow Great links there Raven. Thanks alot Bro.

762, I know what you mean about the prices of Music. Back in 9th Grade, I wanted to expand our Schools jazz band to Better Music, Better Ranges, etc. So I started Buying up Scores From the likes of Lee Morgan, Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton, The Duke, etc. $45.00 + a pop and that was cheap considering what other music was going for. I can only Imagine what the cost would be today for a Full Orchestra Spread.

Sirgod warbling Triple C's at age 13 on the Trumpet.

If you are a choral music fan:

http://www.cpdl.org/

I am sure there is an analogous site for instrumentalists.

Yes Sir I am. My first Trumpet was A King student model  Igot when I was around 6. I started Hitting A pretty good Range about 10 with the standard 7c mouthpiece. As I got abit older, I recieved a Meha trumpet ( Can't recall the French Company that made It right off), and later Got a Callet Mouthpiece custom made.

The last Trumpet I had My wife bought for me, It was another student Model, But hey , I got to play It. undortunatly, I played It too hard. The Little Brass Rods Came loose after a few Years of Me Pushing that Horn too hard.

But Yes Sir, I'm very passionate about jazz, and Music.

Very cool.    I still own my french horn (Conn 8D F/Bflat double, nickel-silver), although I haven't played it in a dog's age. I had a pretty good range on that (double high F, which is the same note as your double high C) and a lower register towards the end of the piano. Made NY All State Band in 1985...many fond memories.

Trumpet was my second instrument. I had one really good night with that where I was hitting double E's.

Triple C is Maynard territory.

I was a clarinet player in younger days.  Moved to Bass, and then Contra-Bass clarinet.  Only real claim to fame was my ability to triple tongue (duguda duguda) and glissando on the clarinet (Rhapsody in Blue anyone?)  However my main "instrument" has been my voice.  It isn't a real good "classical" sound, but it fairly good for Broadway, and High-end belting.  Trained with voice lessons for about 5 years.  I have been steadily migrating from Tenor/Baritone to a Baritone/Bass.  Normally have a solid Low D (Below Bass Clef staff) and can "belt" up to an A or Bb (Middle line Treble cleff).  Mostly do friends weddings now.  One favorite of mine ( and others) is a duet with my wife.  We do "The Prayer" most know it from the Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion duet (oscars).  I am no where near as good as Andrea, but I can do a convincing "operatic" sound.  Jen (my wife) on the other hand could sing circles around Celine.

My wife is a true "stratosphere" lyric sorpano.  Excellent Jazz voice, with a good "chest" voice and amazing high end.    I have heard her "pop" F and G above High C.   Her flexibility is astounding to me.  In my opinion she could easily play any of the "lyric" roles in a Mozart Aria.  I wish I had a recording of her doing the "Queen of the Night" Aria from 'Magic Flute'.  It was very cool.

SirGod, you could try looking at BBC Radio 3's site. It is a UK radio station that is dedicated to classical and Jazz music.

Here's a profile of Sergey Rachmaninov on their site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/profiles/rachmaninov.shtml

And the main site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/index.shtml?logo

I think you can listen to it live through Real player. Best of all, no adverts!
