New Ships For Generations at war 1.1 release
« on: February 20, 2004, 11:07:39 pm »
because ratboy asked.. i did these screen shots:

The Invincible Class:

The D5 garden Variety (and yes, there are differences in each class).

The Andor Class (i used the cannon FASA size and it sorta looks small - oh well).

The Melak Class (replaces the phoenix class)

The Okinawa Class (be looking for an plasma Variant if i get the chance)

A new/Updated Constellation Model

These are just some of the adjustments. I hope to also release some updated and retextured ships.. of course adding in my variants is a priority.. as is adding in a few new vessels.

The real interesting part hasnt happened yet, and that is I have not added in any of the new races. There will be 1 new race added to the dominion axis, and two new NPC races added.

Excellent work all around!  Are you going to change the hull registry in the CCX?

Remember, just like the text file...with no "U.S.S." since the prototype wasn't an official ship.

Have to mention these updates ('cause I think Nanner forgot)..

New shot of the Invincible

Don't know if he wants to announce the other ship here yet or not that I just worked on for the GenAW mod.. so I'll leave that up to him.  But it's a nice ship, a real prince.

There's also two other ships that I'm waiting on for definite permissions on for release from Atra as they are kitbashes on Atra's design (still is 95% his mesh), plus a mix of Lord Schtupp's textures and Atra's.  Turned out really nice and should be a happy day for the SFB'ers here.    Just a hint, one of these TOS ships are named after a city, and it's near water.  The other: "The only real battleship built without the name of one of the States."    Plus the CVA...

(grin)...

(edit)
Okay, check this out.. it's been announced w/ official pictures..

And I just got permission to release the two TOS ships, so I'll send them over to Nanner in about 10 minutes so that he can include them.

Then I'll check the pylons on the "Hagen" and make sure it's ready for release.

Has that Melak been scaled DOWN to K' Tinga size?

Also IF I remember correctly, the Okinawa is Moonraker's retextured by Duct Tape Wonder and Atheorhaven using Ganymad's altered model and textures

I'll field this one.  Nanner and I talked about this and agreed that the Melak looked too TNGish to be part of the TMP era, so we took a little artistic license and pushed it into the so-called Lost Era as the class of warbird that attacked Narendra III and Khitomer.  We both just felt that it looked out of place next to the Condor and Killerhawk.

Edit: Note that I don't remember the exact words said; the private messages got deleted from my box at SFC3.net.

Sorry, it still doesn't answer the SIZE question. I think its too big as is.

The RTS game ST: New Worlds game features the Melak in its opening movie. That game is set in LATE TMP times and the Melak does not appear to be much bigger than the K' Tinga that intercepts her. I believe the Melak is a state-of-the art Romulan ship that does fit nicely in the lost era and I agree 100% these warbirds attacked Nerendra III in early TNG times.

I play LATE TMP so it WOULD fit nicely in my game if a 100% accurate Melak was available... I understand that this is being rectified as I type...

For a history of the 'Curse of the Melak' check out my treatise on the Melak at BC forums.

Aye, there's the quandry.  While I don't know how big it is now (I just write the stuff), scale wise I think it should be bigger than the Klingon cruiser, since just by eyeballing it, there appear to be more decks in the Romulan ship than the Klingon ship based on the windows.  Why that could be the same dimensions as a Klingon ship is beyond me; perhaps the guys who made the movie scaled it wrong.  And since in the mod its supposed to be a LE ship, it should be fairly big, perhaps smaller than the Ambassador-class.  But, as I said, that's not my department.

Atra,

I believe its a mesh by Solid snake brought to us by Dark Matrix.

Rat Boy,

Don't mind me, I'm just passionate about getting an accurate Melak. If this were the Excelsior, we'd all still be playing with retextures of the STOCK FDN... LOL

Mr NannerSlug,

When will this TOS K-D5 be available?  Is it only for SFC2?  I would like it for SFC1 if possible.  By the way, I like the Beaker Avatar.
