Need a hand with textures for Breen Destroyer
« on: February 19, 2003, 03:41:26 pm »
Hey everyone.

I found an excellent model of a Breen destroyer, and it even has textures with it, but I can't figure out how to apply them so they show up in the game. I've converted the model itself to .mod format with 3DMax, and I converted all the textures to bitmaps ( .bmp ). The textures show up in Max, but not in the MFCSFCED program I use to determine if a model will appear in the game. What can I do to make the textures stay on the model when I export it as a .mod? Or, would anyone be willing to retexture the ship with the textures provided? This is really one sweet ship, and I can't wait to get it in the game. Any help?

Number one thing to check:  make sure of the texture size.. 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 on a side.  That'll get the texture ingame.  Anything else, and you're risking the texture not showing up..

But if you just want someone to check the size.. then pop on Sunday in AIM, Yahoo, MSN, or ICQ and I'll try to be online in the afternoon and can check them for you and see which ones may need to be resized, and do that for you.  Sound okay?

I know sometimes I ask the most retarded questions for someone who supposed to know stuff. Thanks for the insight Atheorhaven. You know, the funny thing is I already knew about the texture sizes, but it just somehow never occured to me... Maybe I'm getting old. Anyway, I don't know exactly how I could resize the texture bitmaps without smushing the textures around on the model. I may need a hand with that. I'll give it a try myself and report here on how it goes.

Update:

It worked! I used Photoshop and changed their size. A couple of them didn't show up at first, but if I tinker with it I'll figure it out. Thanks for the help!
