What is the difference between the XT and Pro versions?!??!?  I know the SE version is slower, but what about the Pro?

Basically, the XT series is deisgned to run Direct X 9 shaders and the upcoming Open GL 1.5.  In other words the XT is primarily designed to run Half Life 2 and the Pro has half the features, but slower.  If you have $500 to spend  go for it... If you want a budget video card go for the 9600XT... The 9600Xt version retails for $200 depending where you shop. Do a Google search on this subject and you'll see articles on the subject...  I hope this helps!

The XT is a more expensive, faster clocked version of the Pro. The SE is a Pro with half the graphics pipelines I believe, and is not worth buying.

The 9600 XT is a rather good card, comes out just ahead of the Geforce FX5700 Ultra in some benchmarks and games, just behind in others. The Pro could probably be overclocked to come close to the XT's clocks, so if you're looking to buy then that option may be worth considering.

Aye, see the XT with 256MB for $170 & the Pro with 256MB for $103...

Was sort of hoping the Pro was just like the XT minus the freaking TV/video IN/OUT stuff that I will probably never use....

Thank you for the responses.

I got the 9600XT 256MB and highly recommend you spend that little bit extra, I can now run games with SHADOWS
and it does not affect framerate

Nice one ATI

Or you could buy a 9800 non-pro and bios flash it make it a 9800 Pro . I believe I saw an ATI 9800 Pro, 128 MB card on sale for $199 USD at CompUSA in Sunday's sale ad's. Just a thought/option.

Ok, had a GexCube 9600XT w/256MB ordered.... got an email today saying that they 'upgraded' it to a Sapphire 9600XT w/256MB..... no cost change.

Anyone know which is the better manufacturer?

The Sapphire is the better card most definately, as Sapphire also makes the cards for ATI since ATI stopped making a majority of the cards themselves. Basically if you buy a "Built by ATI" card, is more than likely actually built by Sapphire. GexCube is some small company which usually means support sucks.
