Help with adding new sounds!!!!!
« on: February 12, 2004, 11:35:14 am »

Just a generic dumb question for SFC3.  But everytime I try to change or "swapout" a sound file from the SFCSounds.zip file and replace it with one of the same name and bitrate I lose that sound.    I wanted to change some of the weapon sounds to the alternate or more accurate versions and instead I get nothing.  I've been able to swapout files with the various soundpacks individuals have made available and they work fine but when I try to do it myself or try to do only specific ones no luck.  I want to change out some voices eventually but I'm afraid that wont work either.  Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks!

When you add/replace the file are using zero compression?

I have changed several of the weapons sounds with no problem.

I'm not sure.  In which case, should or should I not be using it [zero compression]?

Yes. Compression needs to be set at zero. That's probably what's causing your problem.

Tip - use Creative PlayCenter - convert your file to .wav & then to .mp3 - make sure it is set to 128kbs (which is default) - and you will have no problems.

Be warned - do not use long sound files, you'll create additional lag, though "Impact Lag" is a totally different thing...
