Good, a DVD recording. I'll strip it off the disk to my Hard drive and edit out all the ewok parts.

Perfect.

I remember in one of the X-Wing Books, Wedge made a bluff about one of the Wraith pilots being an Ewok.  Finds out later he found himself being held to his bet, and had to rig one of his pilots to fly a TIE Interceptor with an Ewok suit in front of him the entire time.  Really a hilarious scene.

But you just know it would have been.

I think the point was that it would have then been proven that Lucas caved to his teeniebopper daughter.

Episode III has to bring back what we so loved about Star Wars,  the dark, edge of your seat, galaxy in the balance of it all feeling that Knights of the Old Republic has only recently recaptured.  Lucas would be wise to go hire the writers at Bioware.

I've been following the production of Ep3 and from what I see so far it has potential to knock our socks off.  The duel will be very long and violent.  The longest duel ever in a movie.  So intense that the stunt coordinator Nick Gillard and Hayden Christensen have gotten broken fingers.

Long and violent = Good???

Hmm, interesting.

I don't agree, but then again, I didn't think Episode 1 was all that great either...and it was also very long...

Sounds cool, though I'd settle for dialogue that doesn't sound like my daughter Jessica (almost 2) wrote it...

I love the Star Wars movies but they have gotten progressively worse in a number of areas since Empire Strikes Back.  The dialogue in Ep. 2 was just horrific.

I know Hayden Christiansen can act...so I'm blaming his incredibly bad performance in Ep. 2 on the directing and the writing...heheh...

The Star Wars Trilogy on DVD
February 10, 2004

The most requested films for the DVD format will finally become a reality this September as Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox present the eagerly-awaited Star Wars Trilogy for the ultimate home entertainment format. The four-disc collection will be released on September 21 in the U.S. and Canada, with international release dates following closely.
"We know how long fans have waited for this release and how much they have been looking forward to it, so everyone has been working overtime to make sure that the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD is an awesome experience," said Jim Ward, Vice President of Marketing and Distribution for Lucasfilm Ltd. and the DVD collection's Executive Producer.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi will be available in a four-disc set that includes a bonus disc filled with all-new special features -- including the most comprehensive feature-length documentary ever produced about the Star Wars saga and never-before-seen footage from the making of all three films. Each of the three films in the Star Wars Trilogy has been digitally restored and re-mastered by THX for superior sound and picture quality.

"First and foremost, the DVDs will deliver the very best possible sound and picture and take advantage of everything the medium can offer. On top of that, we are creating added-value material that gets inside the creation of the Star Wars films in a fresh and fun way," Ward said. "We want watching this DVD collection to be as memorable as seeing the movies for the first time."

The films of the Star Wars Trilogy will be available exclusively as a collection and will feature Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX. All three films are closed-captioned and subtitled in English, French and Spanish in the U.S. Internationally, sound and subtitling specifications will vary by territory.

Keep checking starwars.com over the coming months for more specific details about the content of this must-own DVD set.

Hopefully they will include the original versions of the movies and not just
the versions that Lucas monkied with.

Bummer. I know that I'm gonna buy them anyways but it would of been
nice to have the original versions.

I only got to see the super dooper uber version of Star Wars when it was
released and I wasn't to happy with it. Yes, the new effects were nice but
I didn't care for how the story was changed. I'm refering to the cantina scene
with Han and Greedo and the hanger bay scene with Han and Jabba.

Actually the Han and Jabba scene was always supposed to have been there (and was always in the novel, which Lucas wrote himself). It wasn't filmed because they couldn't figure out how to do it in 1977 (and probably wouldn't have had the money anyway).

762, yep I recall that. I kinda remember seeing an outtake of the that scene
when it was originally filmed and they used this large fellow to play Jabba.

The part that I didn't like in that scene was when Han steps on Jabba's tail
while they are talking. It was too comical. Jabba is suppose to be this intergalactic
bad*ss not someone that you would step on. I saw the making of and they explained
why they filmed it that way but in my opinion they should of just left the scene out.

Yeah, that was a bit dorky, but after that pile of $hit called Episode 2 it looks positively brilliant.

LMAO!! Don't get me started on Ep. 1 and 2. I could go on a rant that would
make some of our more notorious forum members seem sedate.

Don't quote me on this, well, I'm sure you will anyways but here goes.

In the new (ep 4,5,6) DVD set, Han shoots first.  So I've heard.

I heard a rumour, as well, that the Han/Greedo scene is going to be slipped back to the original, where Han shoots first (as it should be) and that in the Han/Jabba scene he doesn't rise up when he walks behind (as if he had stepped on his tail).  To me that would be a very nice adjustment.

Of course it would be nice to have an "special" edition where it includes both versions (hey, they did it with the Alien movies all in one box, 2 discs per movie one with the theatrical release and one with the editors cut).  Maybe they'll do what they did with the Lord of the Rings movies and wait for everyone to buy this version and then release the next one so everyone will buy it again.
