Well if the person you are playing with has been cheeting he would have to change the games programming and if that is the case he would show up red in the setup menu instead of yellow and you would not be able to launch the game with him because his game program would be different than yours and for you two to play you have to have same programing. At least I think that is how that works.

I would tend to agree with your assesment, however, the fact still remains that this person is able to hit with photons 100% of the time.  I've been playing SFC since about a week after it hit the market and have never seen this level of accuracy.

I really don't mind losing at all, (in fact I lose quite abit truth be told   ) but if there is away for someone to hold an unfair advantage, I am hoping it can be brought to light and resolved in the official patch (should Activision, Paramount and Taldren ever mend their relationships) or a method outlined for players to be able to detect this.

I could be wrong and maybe this guy is the best damn SFC player that there ever was....  If that is the case, I have no issue at all.

True. Hard to believe that this person is that lucky or good. If he found away to beat the system that is some hard-core hacking! Not cool though. >:(

Quote:

Hi all!  Wondering if somebody can provide me some direction with a problem I am having with SFC3.

I keep playing this one person who seems to (almost magically) hit me with all of his photons everytime.  He always flys Federation Akira's.  I fly almost the full range of races  with erratics on almost constantly.  Distance doesn't seem to be a factor either.  Provided I am within weopons range, he hits me.

Is there a way I can detect if he has modified one of the core files to make his shots essentially 100% accurate?  The replay files show that his ship is designed within appropriate levels but does not shed any light onto how or why he seems to be able to hit me with 100% accuracy.

Any and all help would be appreciated!

It could be that he has Leg officers that will account for the 100% hit. This would be only true if you do not have Leg officers to counter his Leg officer.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "Leg Officer"?  Can you explain?

I always choose Legendary for all of my officers.  It is the very first thing I do when I configure a ship (at least in the 65k range).

I think I may understand what you mean....

Within the customload file, a  normal "Legendary" officer looks like this OFFICER:ENGINEER:NAVIGO:10:20:10:Rookie:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:6. Legendary:6. Legendary:6. Legendary:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:4. Veteran:

Only Legendary status is granted to that officers specialized ability.  Well what if all abilities are granted Legendary for all officers?  I wonder if that would show up as a cheat?  It would definatly show up in replay files...  I just don't have any from a game with that player....

Anyone know of the effect that would have?

I could see that being true for a Dynaverse environment...  What are your thoughts about GSA?  Think it is possible?

Does SFC3 have a model size checker file?

You can cheat without being detected,i bump into a cheater once a day on gamespy, liten to this
So we fight and i bring his hull health down to zero, then pop 20 quantums into his hull and he is still standing,so i pound him 4 another 10 minutes i give up and self destruct, other cheat is that he has level 13 phasers, other, well i dont think that is a cheat enabled Scimitar, while i didnt, all of those players didnt show red on my screen and they were perfectly able to enter the game with me.

Well I went and reinstalled it to check (sorry I really don't like the game much) and I didn't see one. This sounds like it might be your problem unless they incorporated it into the coding and it can't be seen anymore. If it isn't there, people can resize their models so that they seem to be closer than they are (from the games perspective, you will see what you always see on your end). This could allow them to be very close to you for firing purposes on their end and hit all the time because the game thinks they are right up on you instead of far away.

Do you mean to tell me that the ModelSize column in DefaultCore isn't checked to see if it's the same among all players?

That would make a huge difference in to-hit percentages. Why is it even there if it's not going to be checked in GSA?

We don't know, that's why I was asking if there was a model size check at all. I don't know enough about SFC3 to be sure.

the OOB version did not have model checking.. it was one of the first things I checked before the v500 beta.. I'll recheck it later on this week .. that is if I can get the game to reinstall... I fubarred my installs messing with mod installers...

EDIT : It was verified fixed prior to v500 beta release..... just had to check notes.

Whoa, this could lead to an ugly debunking of the legend of the "Magic Photon".

I call for an immediatte cover-up.
