There is nothing in Trek canon to suggest that Sarek and Amanda were the first of their species to get it on, nor is there anything that states that Spock is the first Vulcan/Human hybrid. Either way, I wouldn't worry; the episode made it seem that it was just a one-nighter.

Do some of the Trek merchandise, like a record made back in the 'Seventies count? I recall a vinyl record with Mark Lenard playing Sarek on it, giving an interview saying, I think, that Spock was the first and that it was a difficult gestation or something like that. But, I was a kid then, and the memory of it could be skewed... not that I'd claim some memorabilia vinyl record to be a canon source!

Even if it's not, which I don't actually remember any mention of it myself, there are countless other things they have trounced on, with this show especially. I enjoy it, but c'mon. A some of the stuff doesn't even add to the story it's just there and sloppy.

I liked the episode. The last few have been pretty good. They seemed to have lost their way mid-season, but it is getting better lately.

I liked the fact that the MACO guys could kick ass a little bit and that their commander was given more than just a few lines.

Hey, I still have a copy of that on cassette tape!

It is a recording of Roddenberry giving an "interview" with Sarek (Mark Lenard) in an attempt to shed some light on Vulcan culture and even goes into how Vulcans have sex.

LOL, is info that came directly from the "Great Bird of the Galaxy" considered canon?!?

So I haven't seen last nights episode yet. Heck I haven't seen last weeks either. So I'm going off of pure speculation and inference here. But just because they got it on, doesn't mean that they're going to produce offspring. (Unless B&B put that in the ep as well.) It could be that Spock was the first successfull child of such a union.
