A year or so ago, I saw on the back of the now defunct STAR TREK The Magazine an advertisment for the Unobtainium TOS Enterprise models. They were supposed to be about 30" long and were very expensive to ridiculous depending on how it was built. They were only available as built up models. I believe the lit ones were on the order of $1200 or so.
Sizewise, Here are the specs based on the dimensions from my original "official" TMP blueprint set.
OverallLength
34.29" Draft
8.02" Beam
15.94" Primary HullLength
16.46" Draft (height)
3.70" Beam (diameter)
15.94" Secondary HullLength
13.61" Draft (height)
5.34" Beam (diameter)
3.70" Engine NacellsLength
17.41" Draft (height)
2.06" Beam (width)
1.42" OH, MY, GOD! !
I had better get busy designing that lighting kit now.
So now that we know that this thing is absolutely
HUGE we can plan on how and where we are going to put it. I seriously doubt that there will be any 1/350 kits of the B, C, or D but This is going to be the most sought after and highly prized kit ever made. The only thing that would be as good would be the TOS Enterprise and it won't be this big. My vote for the next 1/350 kit after the refit "E" would either be a kit of the Reliant, or a Klingon D7 (movie version please). I suspect that if the molds and parts were done and planed for ahead of time, there would be quite a number of parts that would be common to both the refit Enterprise and the Reliant. Thus tooling would be a bit cheaper for the Reliant, and thus less development time as well I would presume.
