WOW! Talk About A Scare!!
« on: January 19, 2003, 02:51:52 pm »
I just upgraded to DX9 and my machine locked up on the reboot TWICE! I was thinking "Oh crap I just ruined my computer!" Third time was the charm though and it seems to work fine. WHEW!!

My install went smoothly today, but hey you got to get used to those lovely crashes! They happen all the time. For some reason. Somehow......

*Why can't they make error messages more understandable?*

I was brave today, too.
And payed for it.
Upgraded to to Dx9, and installed the latest Catalyst drivers (3.0) from ATI.
Dx9 is ok so far.  But, sadly, it seems that Catalyst 2.3 is still the most stable driver for my old Radeon card.

For my DX9 upgrade I actually replaced my old video card with a Radeon 9700, did the Catalyst 3.0, and DirectX 9, then the DirectX 9 SDK (without uninstalling the DX8 SDK), not to mention I also switched virus scanners from McAfee to Norton. Then about a week later I installed Windows Media Player 9. No problems so far.
