World of Warcraft Beta Signups This Week!
Monday, January 26, 2004
At 6:00 pm PST on Wednesday, January 28th, the signup period for the World of Warcraft Beta Test will officially begin. We will provide a link to the beta-test application right here in the news section at that time. Testers are not going to be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis, so you will be able to submit an application and receive equal consideration anytime during the signup period, which will end on Wednesday, February 4th at 6:00 pm PST. Please note that multiple submissions from the same household will result in complete disqualification.
For this initial phase of the World of Warcraft beta test, we will only be able to accept applications from Canada, Korea, and the US. The test for Europe and other countries around the world will happen later this year. Please do not contact us for further information regarding the beta test; we will be posting a FAQ in the days ahead.

i'd try this out, But I've been to busy lately, But I know some of you would like to have the chance.

The page is live, but the script that checks your system configuration is either jammed or down.  Might want to hold off on signing up for a bit, since it isn't first-come, first-serve.

I am so GEEKED for this game!  I want into that beta badly!

I did get to beta Frozen Throne, lucky me!  But this is the one I am really interested in!

I loved WarCraft III and I've been playing DAoC since it launched.  WOW specifically addresses nearly everything I've disliked about MMORPG's.  It will be the new standard that other MMORPG games are compared to.

And I will personally kick the kneecap of anyone here who gets into the WOW beta if I do not!

Well, my kneecaps are safe from the ravages of Scott...

Mac requirements are too stiff for my home machine (1.0 GHz or higher, G4 or G5 processor).

Grrrr.. Can't run this. Can't run Halo well. Even AvP2 is jerky at times.  My home G4 is circa Nov 2001.

Out of curiosity, how often do you PC guys buy new machines? I usually pop for a new Mac every 5 yrs or so...

I went a six year stretch, then a four year stretch --with various upgrades here and there (new graphics card, more memory, etc).

Also had my Amiga for about 4 years before buying my first PC.

I'll Be honest DM, It's all about the MotherBoard. get you one that will allow for upgrades for the future.

In the Past, Circa EAW, I was able to switch out a component almost every 2-3 months. Video Card, Memory , CPU, Sound , etc...

Of course I cannot do this anymore personaly, But that was how I did It, That and Just going Medium range. My only Problem with Macs, And I love them Personally ( since the old Apple IIc) Is that the games just don't seem to be written for them, hehe, SFC comes to mind.

Now If I where to make an Online Movie, Music etc. The mac is the way to go...

Unless It's a good old Fashioned Amiga like Scott mentioned. An Amiga with Video Toaster Rocks.

Don;t Believe me, Just ask "The Beast"

That's what you're stuck with as a Mac guy...

You can upgrade the vid, memory, drives, and in some cases the CPU, but logic board upgrades don't exist.
In a way that makes it easy
Drive your machine into the ground, then buy new. That's a "Mac upgrade".

Upside is that you never need fool with driver updates or incompatibilities.

As for gaming, yup.
There is hope: Darwine, the project to port Wine (an open source implementation of the Windows API) to OS X, is a project being hosted at Sourceforge.

Oh BTW, What this guy did to a brand-spanking new G5 is just sick!

Man,I felt sorry for that Kid, First He wanted  a Dell, even as A PC user, I feel sorry for anyone wanting a dell for X-mas...

Secondly, That's just wrong to try and Mod a G5. Unless you have the money too burn which we don't , and you have a G5, Let It be. Don't go cutting into the case etc.

Unfortuanelty, The server was too busy too see Page two. But I hear ya DM. They have Great PC's, But Buying a new one everynow and then...

I'll Give that first link a better look over though, It sounds promising.
