You know, I never was much of a Chandley fan, but after seeing some variants and a possible Hospital version of it, I'm wondering if the Chandley actually makes sense now. The Chandley has more internal volume then a Miranda, I really wonder if the Chandleys would be good for many different Variants much like the Mirandas are.
I came up with some theories why we hardly see Connies after the 2280's in Star Trek, maybe the Connies reached the limit too their designs for refit purposes. But the Mirandas, Chandleys, Bakers, Andors, Constellation and Larson Classes where much simpler too build then a Constitution and had much more options available too build variants. Also, they could use old Constitution ship yards too continue too build these other classes but at a cheaper price.
I'm just saying the more Variants I see of the Chandley, the more plausable I see the design.
