Error message after DX 9 patch
« on: January 27, 2004, 07:43:54 pm »
I recieve this error message when trying to load a mission in SFC3. I have installed only the DX9 patch and not the beta. Can anyone tell me what may be causing this problem?

Unhandled Exception! in Version 1.00 Build 435

Could be your video card.. try this step and see if it works

fo into your SFC 3 game folder

Find the SFC3.exe file and right click on it, select properties.

in the grey properties box that pops up, click on the compatibility tab

make sure there is a check mark in "Disable Visual Themes" and click OK

if using an ATI Radeon vid card, set your desktop color settings to 16 bit color.

try game..

also, I suggest using the Public Beta patch v500 in order to get over 150 game bug fixes, the Borg mini Campaign with the fixed scripts, the Nemisis Add On pack..

however it would require you to reinstall as using the Direct X 9 fix with the Beta patch will corrupt the game as the Beta Patch already contains the Direct X 9 fix in it...

Hope that this helps.. if not, post back and we'll do another step.

Thanx Pestelence. I just figured out the same answer on my own and came here to say so.

So Taldren never released a full patch for this game? Just the beta? I've had it for a year and went away until the first full patch was released. I tried the beta but had issues. Nothing drastic. Just that it made some of ym ships go away because of technological compatability. Easy enough to fix at the time, but I was too lazy.

Tulsa, eh? Good town. I used to live there some ten years ago. Is the Starbase 21 hobby store still open? God, I miss that place.

The beta patch is pretty much the accepted patch right now if you want to get on any of the populated dynaservers or play on gamespy.  It does fix a great many things.  Activision just never tested and approved it and then their lawsuit with Paramount brought things to a screeching halt.

Never fear the final patch is still being worked on.

man when I lived in Claremore, I used to shop there alot. One of My old Friends Ronnie Cole used to work there IIRC. But It couldn't beat Crystals Pizza 9now closed) or CasaBonita, in the same shopping center there.  that's 21st and Sheridan IIRC. Been awhile since I've been up to Tulsa.

Yeah, that's right. 21st and Sheridan. I used to live on E. 87th right off of Harvard. Still remember the old address. I was just a budding teen when I lived there, though, but I do remember a lot about livin' on Tulsa time.

I guess I'll reinstall and use the Beta patch. I'll have to fix some of the specs for my ships to work, like the Voyager variant with graviton torps and the Nierreh, a rommie rip of the Defiant.

Has anything new come out for SFC3 lately? I think the last I saw was WZs Titan. All the SFC3 modding sites are closed.
