The F-CFS Concept

This is a model FS has for the CFS. I don't much like it, as its an older lesser poly mesh that doesnt quite flow well, not to mention that the model lacks any kind of federation design consistency and has low detail textures...

I'm a Connie guy. If a Connie can't do it, no ship can. So, I tried setting up a Connie with 4x drone launchers and 8x photon torp bays.

1st, I thought If I angled the front Torp of the Connie to point a little to port, then I could use that whole area as a torp and drone bay. I'd then copy that whole torp structure, reverse it and stick it on top of the aft hull in between the 2x warp engine pylons and have the rear torp tubes angle to port as well. So basically you'd have a double torp bay. The original and a duplicate connected behind it.

Well, it was a good idea till I saw the finished product. It looked like a huge bent penis. Very bad.

So here are some alternatives ideas...

A structure needs to be built all along running the mid side port section of the Connie and look similar to FS's ships torp bay area.

Or a weapons pod needs to be affixed to the bottom of the secondary hull and again setup similar to FS's ships torp bay area. Seems an easier upgrade of the connie as well, cuz remember, that sucker got a huge power upgrade. I dont think that'd happen if the torp bay was built into the mid side of the aft hull... take up all the space in there...

However, neither idea suits me.

SOOOOO....

We kit bash FS's model there. Give it P81's Connie's saucer, neck, torp bay and warp engines. We keep FS's torp bay structure (the upper part of the aft hull), the reinfoced engine pylons and simply add a lower hull right underneath it. For the under hull, we will use a smaller type excelsior secondary hull which is also shorter.

Kinda like this:

How does this idea grab you?

It looks all right. I mean, it's indeed better than the other model, as far as the quality of the model goes.

That is a very fascinating model, to say the least.  it looks very unique, and most importantly, it looks like she is packing the firepower of that type of cruiser.  I hope to see it available in the near future.

I used P81's Connie to make the Atlanta Class.  The Atlanta was done by P81 first of course, but I updated the look and tweaked it, it's got baout as many torps as a Connie can handle without ruining the look of the ship.

Ruining the look?

Ok, since its P81's and not yours, I wont feel guilty by slamming it. Its butt ugly.

Its as if the Atlanta, a look alike Connie, went thru some teleporter and when it came out, all the parts of the ship were put back together in mangled twisted fashion...

Sure, you can play Mr. Potato with a Connie ship, but the results are seldom pretty...

Sorry, Rogue9in, you are an awesome modeler, I LUV ur site, but damn, I thought even you had the sense to stay away from THAT ship. Hehe.

Lets talk about my CFS design. Thats something well within your talent capabilities. You can kitbash that, right?

Hell, no, R9IN. Those are concept works...

I'd be happy to start a dialogue on what our ideas can shape. Im an easy cat to work with...

I'd be homored to work with u...
