Question About 3DMax Files
« on: January 16, 2004, 11:50:52 pm »
I downloaded some ships from the Star Trek Australia website that are in
3DMax format and I was wondering if there is a utility that will convert them
to .mod format?

I'm not trying to make any models, I just want to load them into the .mod viewer
so that I can take some screen shots and use them for wallpapers and
signatures.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Dallas. I wouldn't attempt it with Milkshape if I were you. You'll find that MS3d can't tend to handle alot of the models as they can run into several hundred thousand polys each. Also I'm not sure if there is a maximum poly count for MOD format but you might be out of luck there too.

Thanks for the fast reply. I kinda thought that I'd be out of luck but it
was worth a shot.

even if you  could covnert them, is it really wise to attempt to add a 60,000+ poly ship to a game who's standard is around 3000 poly per model? lol...you might be smoking your vid card if you do.
