Not quite.  I've heard rumors for some time.

I simply had not dared to believe them.

As a proud owner of SH2, this is one game that I am definitely buying! Funny this post came up. I was talking to an amigo about how little investment and with the latest graphics engines what a rerelease of SFC1 with a dyna could do for Taldren. Or even better, get with the makers of SH2 and make a naval campaign game, sorry folks, on one server only one Bismarck to be captained, and whoever has the most PP gets it. I loved playing GNB 1939-1942 because there was no "immediate" repairs in dock. You either stayed in dock until fully repaired or sailed as is.

To tide you over 'til then you might want a look at

Enigma: Rising Tide ( Homepage)

It's a good game, as such (WWII naval combat game based primarily on subs vs. surface ships) - you can pilot either surface ships or subs in variours engagements.

(You have a sub campaign and a surface campaign for each of the three sides, for 66 or so missions).

It is an alternate histroy game, though - lusitania wasn't sunk, germany won WWI, and has conquered most of europe including britain. The british government in excile moved to Hong Kong and has allied with Japan.

So you have three sides; america, germany(europe) and the league (britain + japan).

Strangely it works, with a fairly clever story.

It has a few downsides; it does not have high production values, it looks like it could easily be a few years old, although the ship graphics are good.

However it is also planned to be released as a massive multiplayer game, which could be interesting.

I had Enigma, I gave it to Bearslayer, would have liked to use voice commands though. I hope he enjoyed it.

Did you get anywher in it? I thought it was brutally difficult...

Stuck on a german mission where I pilot an escort destroyer, supposed to take out 3-4 subs before they sink a convoy. I seem unable to do it; I can only attack the subs at close range and before I get there they sink me with torpedo volleys.. the torps from 1 sub I can avoid, not 3.

In another I pilot one sub and must sink 5! destroyers before they sink the merchant fleet. They almost finish the ships before I reach the first group (they attack from opposite ends) and.. well, no luck there either.

LMAO, glad I gave that one away, hehehehehehe, ask Bear. I will tell you SH2 can be brutal as well, especially once the aircraft get radar and you are zooming around at flank speed trying to avoid them, as you do not know if they have torpedoes, or bombs, or depth charges. Still can't get my periscope view to work. Ubisoft is NOT like Taldren in game support, of that I can assure you! I spent more on long distance listening to stupid recordings than I did to a support tech, and he wasn't very bright. I'm impressed with the graphics and game, but not with Ubisoft.
