I demand a reply from the taldren network team or dev team
« on: January 11, 2004, 03:11:51 pm »
Fix Dy3

I had enter all the ports CONNECT TO THIS COMPUTER. Still can't connect.

I have DMZ on I still can't connect.

When I try to connect it both uses my Ip and my internal ip. Still can't connect.

I had phone for support but they couldn't help me. So what the hell do I do to connect to SFC3..... again.

Before I uninstall my game I could connect but not anymore. I'm I missing something in my config files.

I will keep bumping this intill I get a answer by the network or dev team.

Wouldn't it be better to just ask for help rather than make demands like some 2 bit terrorist??

If you are unhappy with the product, you can always DEMAND your money back

DId you try hard coding your external IP addy in the sfc.ini file?

If I remember corretly (and it's been a while) you can edit the sfc.ini file and manually put in the external IP addy so that the DirectPlay client will point back to the right IP gateway.

I can't right now find the notes on this but I believe you entered it under the [IPAddess] segment and it was something like:

IP=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I might have it wrong but try that and see what happens.

Peace.

True, but sometimes the way the question is asked is important too.

Hmmm...

Demand....

reminds me of Star Trek II : The Wrath Of Khan.

(Khan) : "Admiral, You are in a position to demand nothing. I, on the otherhand, am in a position to grant nothing."

anyhow, if you ask nicely in both this forum and in the Dynaverse III Forum, then someone may answer your request...

currently, Castrin is leading you down the path of enlightenment.

Thanks

for proper installation of SFC3 :

Uninstall SFC 3 using Add/Remove Programs in your computer's control pannel...

find the SFC 3 Game Directory, delete it

Update your machine at Windows Update web site (quick link to site is in your Start Button). Get ALL the updates....

Make sure that Your DirectX is version 9.0b

just to make sure that your Direct X is working correctly, go into your start button, click on Run, then in the small box, type in DXDIAG and click OK... when the tool opens up.. wait until the green bar at the bottom finishes, then proceed to go through all the tabs and run all the tests.. this will determine if you have a DirectX error on your system.

Reinstall SFC 3... Install Only the game, say NO to Gamespy Arcade installation and say NO to Direct X 8.1 installation.

after reinstalling the game,

DO NOT install the SFC 3 Direct X 9 Fix Patch

DO NOT install the Nemesis Add On pack

DO NOT install the Borg Bonus Mini Campaign

these items are already incorporated into the SFC 3 1.01 Beta Build 2 v500 patch...

Install SFC 3 1.01 Beta Build 2 v500 patch...

adding the other items above before or after the Beta patch will cause game to corrupt...

Go into your SFC3 game folder and right click on SFC3.exe, select properties, click on compatibility tab, and make sure that Disable Visual Themes is checked, click OK.

Go into your SFC 3 game folder and find the SFC.ini file.. open it with notepad and find the

[Meta]

section.. you need to adjust this section just a bit...

make it to where it will have this line in it

[Meta]
IPAddress=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

keep the rest of the lines in this section, do not alter them...

this line listed.. change the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to your current external IP address....

close the file and say yes to saving it...

Make sure that your ports are configured according to your network file in SFC3\Docs\Help\Network.rtf, and also configure your ports to the GSA online help section....

Disable and keep off the Windows XP Firewall.. it is about useless anyway as it does not protect your system... After configuring your machine for Router instructions (most high speed modems have built in hidden routers if you are connected via Ethernet) try game...

If you can't bypass the Ethernet Router and your Modem has a USB connection, connect USB 2.0 and load the drivers.. this will bypass the modem's built in router, thus freeing your ports,.. it will also open up your connection speed just a bit as it will unclog the bottleneck that Ehternet seems to have...

If you are using Wireless, you will need your owners manual to see how to go into the modem's firmware and adjust the port settings...

make sure that if you are using Radeon vid card, the drivers are the Catalist 3.7 Drivers, NVidia, use the latest drivers.

I hope that this information get's you online... Once you get online, you can add the Nerdlat mission Pack, plus any other mission packs or mods that you want to the game.. just make sure that you read and follow the instructions exactly as they are provided to prevent possible game corruption of installation error....

sorry so long, just trying to cover all the steps at once...

Hmm, some suggestions...take them as you will.

First, it might help to know what type of hookup you are on.

If you are on a dial-up it could just be multiple timeouts with the config you have currently.

If you are on a DSL check to see if they have a firewall as well.  In fact, I believe XP and DSL could actually give you double firewalls, which would mean you have some serious stuff to work on.

On Cable...hmmm, now comes the next part.

Can you hook up with any of the other games that you possess?

Can you hook up to Gamespy and it's matching service.

If you can do that, next, do you have a Gamespy account, and do you have a password.

Try connecting to some matches there, if that doesn't work, then it shows that something is up with either your account, or the person to person hookups.

In that case, you may have problems with ICQ and other chat programs as well, which I expect you may be having as of late since your config was messed up.

If you can match up there and get in game matches, then reasonably you should be able to hook up to the D3...unless you have a different game version for some reason I can't fathom.

Hope something here helps you.

I DEMAND A PIZZA!

What, no takers? Guess I need a better bargaining chip.

How about this: I get a pizza in the next hour or...I'll start singing show-tunes. First up: Camelot!

That oughta do it
