USS STARGAZER (WIP)
« on: January 03, 2004, 12:56:34 pm »
Here's a little something I started working on in order to get back into the swing of things. The first four pics are the ones I posted in my other post, but decided to give her her own thread. Started working on the textures last night. Mesh still need the domes and gun(?) on the belly, but that can be added later. As she is right now, she comes in at 4844 polies, mostly those damn TMP nacelles.

OK, here's the pics...

And the texture wip pics...

Thanx guys!!

This has been a fun ship to model. Add to that the ST: Stargazer novels I've been reading and My mind is churning in the juices of inspiration... In other words, I'm all fired up and feeling like another streak. Since the last one was, IIRC, 10, pre-TOS to TNG, I'm lookin' at a wild ride.

OH, the JOY!!!

I am sorry for the dual post, but what weapons do you think the Stargazer woudl have? How would she compare to other ships in terms of combat power?

Thanx Terradyhne(sp?), wasn't sure about that...DITL only lists as a rating, not what it has.

Did a little work on the bridge textures, still needs some more work, but wanted some feedback. Do the windows look the right size for this class of ship?

Here's the pics...

Bump for the Ruleness
In my opinion the back window make it larger than a standard fca/ conie type  to me it looks kinda small as it pictured there.

Great Job   It will be fun to chase this ship down and kill it . Go Klingons!

Hah! She's more than a match for any Klink!

Here's a little more...this thing is full of stuff to texture in. With the nacs, I've seen her with blue bussards, and red...obviously I prefer the red. I will make available with blue if requested.

Pics...

Thanx, LS!!

Azel, the pods are the main weapons I believe...heavy phasers and such. Besides, looks bare w/out em.

Maybe...let's wait and see how she looks with 'em.

Here's a couple shots of what I've done today...the top(?) of the nacelles...or what would be the top if they weren't rotated 90 degrees. Also the pylons and the outside potion of the impulse drive housing. 22 templates so far, lol.

Here's the pics, let me know what you think...

Thanx, Bud!! As when I did the Remora and then The Ent. C, this baby has reached out and grabbed that part of me that can sit and do this for hours without a break...and believe me, there's a lot of hours in the textures, and I'm only half done, lol. Like I said, so far I've had to make and use 22 seperate templates. WHEW!! For those new to texturing an unmapped model, templates are a lifesaver, and save a lot of re-working the textures.

I should have more pics later, just wanted some feedback on the progress so far.

If this is an HDW class, as someone suggested, be carefull when approaching from the rear. Bad stuff comes from there.

It looks awesome, man. I like the wallpaper you posted as well.
