I have seen thru out this forum, alot of pics and screenshots of models in space, beautiful space, Im tired of just the nebulas and etc... Is there anyway to change the stars to like this

 


Something that looks full of life and not just a couple of specs in front of you lol

sorry ot... but very nice model... is that for SFC2 or 3?

That's Lord Schtupp's work there Skyflyer.. check this thread:

And it's for SFC2 as LS uses LODs in his meshes.  But converting them over to SFC3 can be done.  

As for the stars, in SFC2.. if you check the \assets\textures\space folder (I think, or similar), you'll find all the nebula and space textures.. just replace them all with a good star graphic similar to what you're looking for, and that'll increase the chances of having the fuller space you're looking for...

Not sure where they are in SFC3, but I'm willing to bet the directory will be the same.

Well, you can make a starfield in photoshop like this:

open a new document

go to Edit>Fill>Black

once your new image is filled with black go to Filters>Noise>Add Noise
set to 25%, monochromatic, gaussian
hit ok

next go to Image>Adjustments>Threshold
play around with the setting until you getr the amount of star you want
hit ok

VOILA..a perfectly usable starfield...

Or you could download the Glitterato plugin from  here  and use the star settings without the nebula colors....

Either way, you can make some pretty decent starfields...

I have to admit that the starfield background was quite beautiful, very much full of life in that shot.  Is there any way to replicate that?  Especially if we do not have photoshop?

Ummm...short of downloading some perfectly acceptable wallpapers from either NASA or the Hubble site ( I think  this is the link) I donot know...

BTW the Hubble site has some beautiful wallpapers that are stunning!

Erm, oops...I forgot completely about a proggie called Universe which allows you to do some pretty decent starfields. It is shareware but is perfectly acceptable.  The site is www.diardsoftware.com but is currently down for some reason.

I just render a shot of a starfield using the Video Post thingy in 3d Max
