Resources for understanding this:

 Roman Calender Conversion
  Roman Date Calculator

Latin-English

dies solis-Sunday
dies lunae-Monday
dies Martis-Tuesday
dies Mercurii-Wednesday
dies Jovis-Thursday
dies Veneris-Friday
dies Saturni-Saturday

Although I found a source that said that the Romans had 8 days in a week but I was not able to find the name of that day.

The AVC or AUC means in latin "Ab urbe condita" or "from the founding of the city"  that city being Rome founded about 753 BC so one needs to add such an amount to the standard year to get the Roman date.

Thanks for the opportunity to Google some interesting stuff.  Nice diversion.

It took me a little while (Google   ) to figure out why the dates looked wrong. I had forgotten that the Roman calendar started counting with the founding of Rome.
