Topic: cannot locate the cd-rom  (Read 1296 times)

cannot locate the cd-rom

I have just purchased SFC 3 I install it and when i double click on the SFC 3 icon to run the game it keeps telling me "cannot locate the cd-rom""eject and reinsert the cd-rom, select ok and restart application". after reading the forums i know there maybe more problem but i can't even get into the game please help. it does the same thing if i click on the play button from the autoplay launcher.

maybe the registy is telling it to look somewhere else, or maybe the registry doesn't have the right cd-key... a reinstall should fix this, or open the registry editor (start\run\regedit) and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, then Activision, then Star Trek Starfleet Command III. it will show you what drive it looks at at CD, and the cd-key is where it says KEY. To fix it if it is wrong, just double click on what you need to change and change the value data.

There are a couple of possible reasons. Do you have more than one CD drive, and was it a DVD? It would also be handy to know if the install CD drive configured as a master or slave drive.
