Model size and gameplay

Does the size of the model ingame affect anything, I noticed the obvious one i.e. mines but does it affect anything else.

Also does having SFC2 LOD models in a SFC3 game have any detramental affects?

Yes. If a model is large (say size of 10) and a plasma comes out the rear of the model, going forward.. the length of the model is extra distance the plasma has to go through. In otherwords, it may degrade sooner than you might expect.

Model size differences between players could
cause unfair transporter calculations as well, I'm
not sure about range calcs right off hand.   As you
probably know, this will be addressed in the patch,
currently in testing.

LODs should have no affect on gameplay, if present.
The only possible concern is the added size of the .mod files.

Thanks,

Dave

The LOD's cause textures to show up incorrectly, and because you have to include the extra textures, the model uses up more memory. Considering it takes about 2 seconds to delete the two LOD's & a couple more to delete the extra textures, it's worth the effort.
