I have heard of some problems on higher end MBs with the GeForce4 MX video card and latest drivers. But I cannot remember details.

A side note, I would dump the GeForce4 MX, it is a low end POS video card compared to todays standars. It is just enough to get by. It will soon be virtually obsolete, especially when Doom 3 comes out!

I would try the video driver rollback with the BETA patch only. MAke sure it's a clean install then only the patch (delete all traces of SFC3 under program files).

It's a shame that Activision pulled the plug on SFC3. We used to comlain about Interplay, but Activision is falling apart.

I have been running a GeForce 4 MX with the latest drivers, and I have no problem with the card.  Even playing Unreal II with all game video settings on high, which is a pretty graphics intensive game, it runs fine.  I think this varies from system to system...

He's right, you're about to run into some problems with newer games very soon--within 6 month is my guess.

Heck, I use a generic integrated 810e video card on my P3 600 mhz and SFC3 runs fine.  Granted, I can't run most games now, but who cares.  Most games these days are etheir role playing games or crap.  If I want too play games like that, I will play them on my PS1/2.  You don't need intense, pretty graphics for a good strategy game.  It helps make games like SFC more enjoyable, but its the gameplay that counts.
