Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

What would happen if there were to be a new Star Trek series in the TNG timeline that was HEAVILY influenced by SFB?

-explains the disappearance of the Lyrans, Kzinti, and others
-describes the Andromedan wars
-most importantly, becomes more combat-based and exciting.  Think "Black Sheep Squadron" meets ST:Voyager

Ideas?  Thoughts?

though we may think that sounds like an excellent idea, the reality is the "market" (ie. viewing audience who brings in advertising money) has been saturated for quite some time with the whole star trek genre.  look at the poor ratings of Nemesis and Enterprise for example.  There is no way the studio execs will support something like this.  Maybe in about 10 years or so, there might be a rekindled enough interest from the public to start a new series, but dont count on it for a while.

Yeah, the poor ratings must be because the target audience is saturated with Trek stuff.  Couldn't be because big chunks of the concepts or writing stank.  Nope.  Anything but that.

Interesting but it'll never happen

Lyrans: busy fighting a civil war
Kzinti: busy fighting a war against the breakaway Mirak Star League
Others: in a period of isolationalism

-describes the Andromedan wars

In Trek canon those never took place

Think "Black Sheep Squadron" meets ST:Voyager

Voyager?

Bad example how about more like TOS?

I hope that the Paramount guys still read here occasionally.

Ever since they started the UPN network I have had trouble watching these shows.  Most of the UPN affiliates (At least in the 3 states that I have lived in) heavily supplement their income by covering sports.  Almost every Wednesday night there is a basketball game on in Detroit.  UPN covers these and I never get a chance to watch Enterprise.  Have had the same issue with Voyager.  Maybe they (Pramount) needs to also investigate what there network affiliates are showing during the Star Trek hour.  Not that the writing on Enterprise isn't kinda lousy but I can't even see more than 1 show a month to see if there is any improvement.  Repeating the show on Sunday night is redicilous simply because of football.
