Adding & Modifying Weapons if SFC3

Hmmm.
Hi, new here.
A few questions. Is there any way one could alter the refire rate and range of weapons in SFC3? I know you can alter damage, mass, power cost, health, and race allowed from the .gf files, but I haven't found anything for refire and range. How could one add or modify a weapon name or description? What about additional effects(such as weapon stun, shield bypass, etc)?

Lastly, is it possible to add completely new weapons into the game, like maybe the plasmatic pulsar from sfc2 or missiles? If so, how? What about new items, like maybe Armor 6 or something?

Basically... if its not in the GF files, you cant change it.

And you cant add new systems of any sort.

What you can modify weapons wise:

1. power to charge.
2. damage.
3. placement on a ship.
4. firing arc.
5. sound.
6. texture.
7. what race can use it.
8. mass.
9. cost in pp.
10. health (how much damage it can take).
11. description of the weapon in loadout display.

Note that you can't change the NAME of the weapon, and that's the one thing that makes weapon mods suck in SFC3. But you can change everything else.

ok, so what is going to be done after patch ?

37) Mixing of Tech Between races now no longer allowed by default.

if you are modifying ship models or the ship.gf files, this fix will make the ship itself not load into game and be listed in the invalidships.txt

anyone looking into a work around for this?

This might be referring to the DEFAULT setting in the server listings. Just because it's not set to allow mixing tech by default doesn't mean it can't be changed to the non-default setting of allowed, so I wouldn't worry too much about this one. It seems to just be a switch from default=allowed to default=not allowed.

- !!!ATTENTION!!! - If you have installed any patches (including the beta patch) for SFC3 then you will need to edit the "ItemRules.gf" file in the Activition\Sfc3\Assets\CommonSettings folder.

Just change this...

Name = "ItemRules"
[Mixing]
MixRacialTech = 0

...to this.  Save, close the file, and enjoy the mod! =)
