Sorry Bro, I got distracted with real life stuff again. It's funny how real Life keeps interfering with my play time. <chuckles>

Hmm, I'll see if I can get on.  So many servers are not compatible with HoTuD yet.

The forums are here
http://pub10.ezboard.com/bthreetowns

and the server is listed under PW Action in the server list in NWN.

Currently there is a problem with the database so be sure to read all the messages that the server sends you and be sure to read the server rules on the website.

I've been on the 3 towns server, and so far have seen little special about it. Just seems so far to be the usual run around and kill things to level up. Are there DMed events, and if so, when are these run?

One thing that irked me a bit, I logged off for 45 minutes for my evening meal. When I logged back on, I got an "Exploit detected" message, and was zapped for some hit points. I promptly healed this damage, but thought it very unfair.

DM events are being worked on. The module is being expanded and tweaked, the DM's and devs are also in college so their time right now is limited. The lure of 3T is it's not a Monty Haul mod (ie you aren't lvl 20 with uber equipment within a few hours.) There is a storyline to the module to so do the quests and find out what's going on (it's still being expanded).

As for the exlpoit stopper, if you log off with damage or dead then when you log back on you are in the same state (ie. logged off with 40/80 hp, you'll log on with 40/80 hp). This is to stop the exploit of being in combat about to die, log off and back on and be fully healed with all spells and such......a very chessy thing to do and also against the server rules.

I understand the reasoning behind the exploit stopper, point is, I was undamaged when I logged off - I was in the inn outside Wheaton at the time, there were no hostiles around, and as I was going to be away for some time, I assumed logging off was the thing to do.

As for the quests, from talking to a few players there, the ones you get at start up are apparently for when you are higher levels than a starting character - missing girl and a missing husband. My character has very slowly reached 5th level - I die a lot, even when playing with a friend. So we aren't really impressed with it.

Yeah, leveling goes slowly for new players. Some of the veteran players just mule items to their lowlevel chars to help them out, but unless you are a Cleric (see the discussion on the 3T forums), or a Shadowdancer it's going to be a bumpy ride to level 20. My current character is a Dwarven fighter, Aenigma Deepvoice, and a nice one too, he has style. It's a bit too sad that my AC is just 38 I can't visit higher level areas without getting butchered by the monsters there.

Don't worry about the eploit stopper. It's not a message that says you cheated, or tried to cheat. It's just to prevent you from cheating

Just 38?! Hell some of my lvl 20's barely have that and do fine in high level area's unless they get swarmed. Low level characters do fine with AC 20-25, by mid levels (10-13) you need an AC of about 35 to fair well. To do Grindels and such yeah AC 40 or more is best. 38 should do you well in most cases.

If you need some better equipment talk to Amonaug or Elvewyn and I'll see about helping in some cases.

I have a druid and a Mage that did fine in the lower levels soloing, in a group they are even better. I haven't tried pure fighter yet although I had a Ranger/wiz/AA that I dumped because of a poor build. New players on 3T have to use trial and error and be aware of the changes in spells and stuff listed on the website in order to build a good character to survive. The vets know all the areas and where creatures spawn, etc and thus do better. Some transfer rare items that one of thier high level characters find and give it to thier lower level characters if it's no use to the high level character. I've also had friends that I've made help me with getting items and have even gifted me with gold when I was short.

The key to 3T is making friends and grouping.
