D16-how big is this thing?
« on: December 18, 2003, 05:53:34 am »
I noticed a description of a D16 being an interceptor. This is the one terredyne made that looks like a long necked D7. Now, is it actualy longer than a ktinga or does it just appear that way cuz the backend is shorted?

Anyone got a proper comparison to a refit connie?

referring to the fasa stats it's shorter (190m) (tho only slightly) than the d-7 (~220m)

We must remember that the FASA stats were all complete and utter bollax when you compared them to the actual ships, for example the Baker class which uses a connie saucer and nacelles and has a huge slab rear hull which is far bigger than the connie somehow masses several hundred tons less than the connie. FASA scaling is notoriously horrid. Their designs were also very unoriginal when it came to Federation and Klingon ships often just scaling up or down basic components from the Connie and K'T'inga respectively and slaping on a few wierd geometric shapes. I'd scale the D-16 by taking the command hull as being the same as that on the K'T'inga and working from there.

ok the FASA specs must be wrong because the D-16 has the same bridge section as the D-7 if you use the following pics as reference than the D-16 must be a bit longer and the D-16 is an Destroyer (more a heavy destroyer)

Look at those pics:
