DIRECT X 8.0
« on: December 14, 2003, 11:25:48 am »
I recently installed SFC 3 & although I do have the correct Direct X, when I load up the game, the opening movie showed and then, a box came up saying that "Direct X 8.0 is not installed".

Even if I did'nt have the right Direct X, the instillation process should install it.

Please help !

You will need Direct x 9.01b I believe is the current Version.

also Be sure you grab the Beta Fix at  either here, Or any number of Fan based sites.

 Starfleet Universe

 Starfleetcommand 3.net

Many many more out there, But I'm  too pumped over Saddam being captured to post them all.

Same ol' problem ...

Once you have installed the BETA patch, go to  Microsoft  and install the DX9b.

You MUST execute this in the SFC3 folder AFTER you have installed the game and patch and BEFORE you boot up the game.

That's what we are here for ... without a fresh influx of players, this game would wilt away.

Rocko, did you read the thread I gave you last night on how to install the DX9b in the SFC3 folder BEFORE you boot the game and AFTER you do the BETA install?

1.) Delete all files -- manually. (one fille will stay; ignore it and manually delete others, folder by folder)

2.) Install the game.

3.) Bypass 8.0 DX install.

4.) Install the BETA patch.

5.) Install DirectX9b.

56) Reboot machine.

6.) Defreag machine.

7.) Reboot machine.

8.) Ensure you have latest ATI drivers.

9.) Bring up game.

10.) Have fun.

#10 is the most important ...

Cheers,

Run  the uninstaller, then manually delete remaining files and folders. One ZERO kb fille will stay. Ignore it.

Then follow steps 1-10.

OK I think I finnally understand... one last thing ... you said in a earlier post that you need to "install the DX9b in the SFC3 folder" is there an actual installer IN the SFC3 program folder?? I am just a little confused

Rocko, you are driving me nuts ...

I am about to do a take over of your computer through MSN ...

Here ...
 Microsoft DX9b

Once you have this little .exe, undo it in your SFC3 folder.

Any further assistance will require me to do a manual takeover of your machine!
