The Excalibur Project was one initiated by Captain McKinnley as soon as he founded the Terran Liberation. It was intended to be a Flagship for the Liberation against Richard Malice's Terran Empire. It took the Liberation a while to get started let alone start on actually building ships. After a little assistance by the Mindwalker Clan of the Chimeran Republic, the Terran Liberation had the resources to start the construction of the Excalibur. A Graviton engine system and Graviton heavy Cannon where given to the Liberation by the Mindwalker Clan for use in the Excalibur Project. The Icaran kingdom of Arkana gave them plasma torpedo weaponry, and the Vegan Constortium handed over an Avatar AI (kinda like Rommie from Andromeda). Using all these gifts as well as some artifacts scrounged up from an ancient human battlecruiser (two squadrens of fighters, and ground-force power armour and battleoids; all of which are extremely advanced by today's standards) They built the Excalibur
So your wondering how does the Caliburn fit into all this?
Well the Caliburn was the Prototype to the Excalibur. It didnt have the Grav Weaponry, though it did use a Graviton maneuvering system, and most of the advanced weaponry wasnt present. but none the less, its construction made it still a formidible ships.
So what happened to the Caliburn?
Well in a battle with the Terran Empire, the Draconian Empire lost their flagship, the Gilgamesh. In a show of good faith the Liberation handed over the Caliburn to the Draconians. Thus the Malestryx was born.
