For those who don't know, the LDR was originally the Lyran Dark Star County The DSC had more than unusually incompetent leadership. They were violently overthrown when the short-sighted and greedy Count Zehrk reduced the military, science, and exploration budgets of the county to basically zero to increase his own personal gain. After the revolution was successful, the DSC broke away from the Lyran Empire and formed their own new democratic governement. They elected to remain neutral, but were constantly feeling pressure from their Klingon, Lyran, and Hydran neighbors. The LDR had an extremely small fleet(compared to the Lyran Empire), but their ships were excelllent designs augmented with phaser-G's purchased from the Hydrans. After existing for about 50 years, the LDR was finally annhilated by the Andromedans.
