Upgraded to XP, reinstalled OP. Can't enter CD Key.
« on: December 10, 2003, 12:55:13 pm »
When I get to the Enter CD Key screen, all I get a bleeps when I press a key. Nothing else happens. I didn't have a problem with WinME.

I've also downloaded the newest patch (2500-2552), but when I run that, it just opens a dos box for half a second and then closes it again. Nothing else happens.

Does OP have a problem with XP?

Is there a solution?

You will need to run OP from the other .exe File.

Look at the shortcut, and right click then properties.

see the call being made to the Op folder? What you need to do is change that to the other .exe that would launch the game.

I don't have Op installed on this system right now, But I think you understand what to do. IE. Instead of StarFleetCommandOP.exe, use SFCOP.exe or whatever the file name is. In other words just use the other >exe.

That worked for the CDKey problem. Many thanks.

Anybody know what to do about the 2500-2552 upgrade not working problem?

are you on administrator account in xp?

The patch needs to run a bat file, which a restricted account can't do.

Also make sure you have the proper patch.  The numbers
are *very* similar (2500 and 2550) and at least one other
person has made this small mistake.

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks guys. Yes I am the Administrator and the file I have is called "SFCOP_Patch_2500-2552.exe". That looks like the right one, it just doesn't run at all on my machine.

I'm trying something else...
2500..2501i - ok.
2501..2525 - ok
2525..2538 - ok
2538-25412 - ok
25412..2500 - ok
2500..2550 - ok

Yep. all ok. Note: I had to get 2538.25412 from /klingon.stasis.ca/sources_and_utils/. It isn't available from "official" sources, though 2525..2538 is. Strange.

Does the 2500~2552 patch extract properly?

Goto the OP directory see if you see a pair of rtp/rtd files. If you do, run the "patchSFCOP.bat" file and type in the RTP's file name (with extension).

If you don't see the paid of rtp/rtd fiels, then something is wrong with the the patch's extraction. Try download it again elsewhere...

p.s. you said not "all your machines". You mean it worked on some?

When I click on the downloaded file, a DOS box opens and closes and thats it. No installer, no extraction, no nothin'.I downloaded it twice, same result. Then I gave up on it and did it the hard way (one step at a time) and that workled fine.
