Usually the gold edition has all the patches published for the game already installed or it could be a pack. I.E. Neverwinter Nights Gold includes Shadows of Undrentide.

Gold versions tend to incorporate more recent patches and can have some extra goodies in them.

SFC Gold contained all the extra missions and extra patches I believe.  More stuff too, but I forget.

MechCommander Gold contained its own expansion pack, the title of which escapes me.

You get the idea.

One exception to the Rule , Is the new Dungeon Siege game add on, which MS has bundled with the original.

alot of times, there are also Battle Chest's, r something similiar. I recently recieved age of Empires 2 with the addon, along with Age of Mythology, and the Titans Addon, But no mention of Gold.

Come to think of It, I believe, this applies only to Blizzard and MS games.

But they where correct on the NWN stuff.

BTw, has any one tried the new DS game yet? I was thinking about It after NWN HoTU, and I finish the Taldren Game.

I have. Lets see. More of the same thing. Yep, thats about right.

Basically,

1)More Creatures, (though most are painted on), More items, some designed for Nature\combat mages, (big yay), a backpack, a pack dinosaur, some nifty new spells, (though most happen only early on.)Same sucky story, (Satan spawn who is too stupid to pack a extra resurrection scroll with his minions. ie. Satan reborn.)A whole bunch of bugs, 60-80 level still takes forever to level., More pretty graphics, Some new effects on weapons straight from Diablo ii (purple set items, stun effect weapons, hit spell weapons- 10% fireshot on hit,  displacers in the single player game, (about time), Autosum for weapon samage 10sec intervals, Transform into monster spells, Spell imbued items exp Spiritual armor 10 AR rises with level, Straight from Diablo II the <shift> stay still key, Unsummon key(u), Spell traps glyphs (spell version of set traps), Sell all Key in merchents panel, Party member "gripe" all the time,.

If you, like me, like DS. Then you will like it. If you don't like it. Don't get it.

Is HoTU out yet?
