Beta Fighter (WIP: Robotech Mod)

Here was the mesh about two days ago with out any texturing sofar.

 
Here is the next progressive shot of the Beta Fighter from early morning yesterday.

 
Here is a close up shot on the texturing from today.  I am getting fairly close to finishing off the texture mapping only 20 more parts to map out then I can start coloring her in.

Mesh time: 11 Hours
Texturing Mapping: 15 Hours (sofar)

I can't believe this hit page 2 with no replies.  I guess I'll have to bump this back to the top with a big old WTG.  Looks great AA.  Can't wait for it's release.

I too think she looks great!

All of AncientAngel's released have been top-notch works.

I can't wait to see the rest of his capital ships completed, incuding his Marduk base.

Beta Fighter texture mapping was just finished this afternoon. Now its time to go back and color her in. Luckly I have kept the model polys down to 2950. Which will be helpfull when I do the Legios version, that ship will be right around the 5,000 marker.

Painting this bugger is going to take awhile. I have 6 (512 by 512) textures to work on so it is going to be awhile longer before this bugger will get released.

Sweet Baby jesus its been awhile.

Anyways, going to be getting back into the swing of things and do some sort of Robotech mod for an SFC game engine.
Sofar it looks like it might be SFC: EAW since its got missiles etc.. and about the right number of races. Off the top of my head this is only going to be a fighter and small ship mod. Since the big boys just kill balancing and hame play because of the size.

Off hand the main focus is going to be New Gen vs Invid. Only issue is that the invid are higly lacking in smaller ships not mechs.

So here is the plan, out of the 8 playable races and the one npc orion.

Fed=RDF (VF-1's etc..)
Kling=Invid (Armored Scout, Pincer, Royal Command Battloid...)
Romulan=REF Mars Base "Blue" (Alpha, Beta ,Garfish etc...)
Mirak=Invid (Armored Scout, Pincer, Royal Command Battloid...)
Hydr=Possible another invid slot.
Isc=Future Robotech masters maybe ..unknown
Gorn=Zentreadi (BattlePods, fighter pods Salan Scout ship...)
Lyran=REF Jupiter Base "Green" (Alpha, Beta , Garfish etc...)
Orion (NPC)= Zentraedi (rogues)

So as for as star bases goes those will be the big ships. Izumo, SDF-1, Zentreadi Flagship etc..
FF: will be your standard fighters
CL: heavy fighters and mechs
CA: Super Heavy (Legios combination, RCB Super VF, Female power armor)
DN: Your smaller cap ships (Garfish, Salan Scout, Clam ship)
Fighters will be the FF class fighters

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas to add to this? remeber it has to be mainly fighter and small cap ship based because SFC game engine can't handle the mile long ships to well.

Need some sort of input guys. Currently adding all of my models to my secondary drive not to mention milkshape and shipedit.

Currently all of the REF is about done with the exception to the SDF-3
Invid are about done as well , just need to texture out the pincer command unit.

OP would be better...Just ask Firesoul (http://klingon.stasis.ca/) he has a SFB be mod to die for...the ability to put in numbers and types of ships is supposed to be immense...

As for mile long ships...well I guess it would just be the scale and all...SFC engine could handle it...just the polys and maybe looking at really tiny fighters would be a pain...

the issue with scale is that the ships center to the targeted ships center is used to figure out range and not by the hard point. So with the big ships you have to be right on top of them in order to fire your weapons. Most of the times it means one ship is hiding inside the other. Polys aren't really an issue really most of the ships do not go above 8K.

SFC:OP would be great but since I loaned that game out two years ago and the guy quit work I have no way of getting my old copy back :(. SFC3  game engine would be great and all for the glow effects etc.. but no missiles and fighters takes that game engine out of the picture.

There are plenty of SFC:OP's over on Ebay, for dirt cheap prices too (That's Ebay for ya' ;D ).

well, after a few hours of work I'm crashing the game engine big time. I'm going to push this project over to Starshatter with some help maybe this time.

But as a side note we need to do a SG-1 Mod pronto.
